Your seed choice decides most of the grow before it starts. Feminized seeds grow only bud-producing females, which protects the four-plant household limit. Autoflowers finish in 8 to 10 weeks regardless of light, ideal for short seasons and first grows. Then match the type to your goal: indica for compact, fast, relaxing plants, sativa for tall energetic ones, or a hybrid for the middle ground.
Use the cup of water and paper towel method: soak seeds 14 to 18 hours, rest them between moist paper towels on a plate in a dark room at 18 to 25 degrees Celsius, and plant once the taproot reaches about half an inch. Plant the sprouted seed taproot down about 1 cm deep in light seedling soil. Keep the soil moist but never soaked, give 18 hours of gentle light, and hold humidity around 65 to 70 percent. Do not feed nutrients yet; the seed carries its own reserves for the first week or two.
Under 18 hours of light the plant builds size and structure. Feed lightly with a nitrogen-forward nutrient, water when the top few centimetres of soil dry out, and train the plant while it is flexible: top it once to double the main colas, and tie branches outward so light reaches everything. Indoors, veg as long as your space allows; outdoors, nature handles the schedule.
Indoors, switch to 12 hours of light and 12 of complete darkness to trigger flowering. Outdoors it begins naturally as August days shorten. Swap to a bloom nutrient, drop humidity to 40 to 50 percent to prevent bud rot, and stop feeding in the final two weeks. Harvest when most trichomes turn cloudy with a few amber, and before autumn rain soaks dense buds.
Cut plants, trim the leaves, and hang branches in a dark room at about 20 degrees and 55 to 60 percent humidity for 7 to 14 days, until stems snap instead of bending. Then cure in glass jars, opened daily for the first week. A patient dry and cure improves flavour and smoothness more than any nutrient ever will.
