Growing indoors in Canada takes a tent, an LED light and ventilation, and it works in every province and every season: four plants per household federally, 18/6 light for veg, 12/12 to flower, harvest every 3 to 4 months.

Indoor growing turns Canada’s biggest disadvantage, the winter, into a non-event. With a closet-sized tent you can harvest in January in Winnipeg as easily as July in Vancouver. Here is the setup and cycle we recommend to customers starting out.
Adults may grow up to four plants per household from licensed seed in most of Canada. Quebec and Manitoba currently prohibit home growing, so confirm your provincial rules first. Seeds themselves are legal to buy nationwide.
A 60 by 60 or 80 by 80 cm tent, a full-spectrum LED in the 100 to 240 watt range, an inline fan with a carbon filter and a clip fan for air movement. That covers one to three plants. Add a timer for the light and a cheap hygrometer, and you are equipped.
Photoperiod plants vegetate under 18 hours of light and start flowering when you switch the timer to 12 on, 12 off. Autoflowers ignore the switch entirely; run them at 18 to 20 hours from start to finish and they will flower on their own, which is why many indoor beginners start there. Aim for 22 to 27 degrees with lights on. In a Canadian winter, put the tent in a heated room and schedule lights over the coldest hours. Humidity: 60 to 70 percent for seedlings, 40 to 50 percent in flower. Winter air here is dry, so a small humidifier earns its keep; in a muggy Ontario or Quebec summer, a dehumidifier or extra exhaust prevents bud rot in dense flowers.
Germinate with the water glass and paper towel method, veg for 4 to 6 weeks, flip to 12/12, then flower for 8 to 10 weeks depending on strain. With drying and curing, plan on a harvest roughly every three to four months per tent, all year round.
