In coastal BC and the Okanagan, plant out after the last frost and expect a harvest around the first week of October. Southern Ontario, the Ottawa Valley and southern Quebec usually see the lighter phenotype done by the end of September. On the Prairies, start seeds indoors in April so the plants are large at transplant, and choose a spot with full sun and shelter from the wind; the chilly nights there bring out the colour, but frost after mid September is a real risk.
