Snowman is a 60/40 sativa leaning Cookies phenotype that flowers in 9 to 10 weeks, reaches 20% to 28% THC and gives 350 to 450 g/m² indoors of small, rock hard, frost white buds with a sweet dough, mint and earthy pine nose.
Where Snowman comes from
Snowman strain is a keeper cut pulled from Girl Scout Cookies seed stock in California, the same family that gave the world Thin Mint and Platinum Cookies. Since Girl Scout Cookies itself descends from OG Kush and a Durban Poison hybrid, Snowman carries that same mix of fuel, earth and sweetness, with the African sativa side showing in its lighter, more alert effect. Growers kept it because one plant stood out for sheer trichome coverage, and the white, frosted look gave it the name.
Snowman became better known as a parent than as a smoke. Crossed to Y Life, it produced Cereal Milk, one of the most talked about dessert hybrids of the last decade. It is easy to mix up with two other names: Snowman Cookies is a newer cross rather than this phenotype, and Supreme Snowman is a different hybrid altogether. Our Snowman seeds are bred to keep the Cookies phenotype described on this page.
Snowman strain effects and experience
Snowman opens with a clear, happy head buzz that lifts the mood without scattering focus. Many people find it a good fit for a creative project, a long walk or a slow cooking session on a Saturday afternoon. The sativa lean keeps the first hour bright and talkative, and a mild warmth spreads through the body as it goes on.
It is not a featherweight. Near the top of its THC range, a second session can tip the experience toward heavy eyelids and a long sit on the sofa, which is the Cookies parent showing through. New users should take a small amount and wait twenty minutes. Dry mouth is common, and a few people feel a racing mind if they overdo it.
Snowman flavour, aroma and appearance
Crack open a jar of well cured Snowman and the first impression is sweet dough with a cool, minty edge, close to the classic Cookies smell but cleaner. Grind it and pine, damp earth and a touch of diesel rise underneath. The smoke is creamy and slightly peppery, finishing with a light vanilla sweetness. Caryophyllene, limonene and humulene are the terpenes most often reported for the Cookies family, and that matches the spicy, citrus and woody notes here.
Buds are small to medium and very dense, often shaped like little stones. Lime and forest green calyxes are hidden under so many trichomes that the whole cola can look silver grey from across the room. Purple flecks appear on some plants when nights drop below 15 degrees, and the pistils turn a pale tangerine as harvest nears.
Growing Snowman in Canada
Indoors
Snowman behaves like its Cookies parent in a tent: it stretches about one and a half times after the flip and finishes between 80 and 130 cm. A four week veg is plenty for a 1.2 metre square space. Hold 23 to 27 degrees under the lights and 50% to 55% humidity in early bloom, then bring humidity down to about 42% once the buds harden in week six. Cookies plants can be fussy about overfeeding, so keep nutrients at roughly three quarters of the label rate and let the leaf colour guide you. Our guide to growing cannabis indoors in Canada covers the lights, fans and filters that make this easy.
Outdoors, by region
With a 9 to 10 week bloom, Snowman belongs outdoors only where autumn stays mild. On southern Vancouver Island, in the Fraser Valley and along the Sunshine Coast, a plant set out in late May will usually finish in the first half of October; a simple rain cover over the last three weeks protects those tight buds from coastal drizzle. Growers in the Niagara region, Essex County and the Lake Erie shoreline can manage a similar timeline in a warm year. Anywhere colder, including the Prairies, the Interior and the Atlantic provinces, treat Snowman as an indoor or greenhouse plant, because a hard frost at week eight costs you the best part of the harvest.
Height and training
The plant grows with a dominant main stem and fairly long side branches. Top it once at the fourth node and tie the four new leaders outward to build a flat canopy. A screen of green works well because the buds are small and stack better when every site sits at the same height. Remove the lower growth before week three of flower to keep air moving.
Flowering and harvest cues
Expect 63 to 70 days from the switch to 12 hours. Calyxes swell late, so do not judge by the pistils alone: wait until most trichome heads are milky and a few have turned amber. Cut earlier for a brighter, more alert effect and later for a heavier body feel. Hang whole branches in a dark room near 18 degrees and 60% humidity for about two weeks, then jar and cure for at least three weeks to bring out the mint and vanilla.
Snowman yield indoors and outdoors
Snowman is grown for quality rather than bulk. A trained indoor canopy returns about 350 to 450 g/m², and well tended outdoor plants on the coast yield roughly 400 to 550 g each. What it lacks in volume it repays in resin: the trichome density makes it a favourite for dry sift, bubble hash and rosin, where the return per gram of flower beats many heavier strains.
Who Snowman is for, and who should pick something else
Snowman suits growers who already have a tent or two of experience, who value frost and flavour over weight, and who want a cheerful afternoon effect rather than a sedative one. Hash makers and anyone curious about the roots of Cereal Milk will get the most out of it.
If you need a big yield for the space, or you live where the first frost arrives in September, choose a shorter plant. Newer growers may prefer the original Girl Scout Cookies, which is a little more forgiving and finishes a few days sooner.
How Snowman compares
Girl Scout Cookies is the population Snowman was selected from, with a heavier, more relaxing finish and a stronger fuel note. Cereal Milk is its best known child, sweeter and creamier, and our version runs on a fast autoflowering schedule. Durban Poison shows where the energetic side of the family comes from, while OG Kush explains the earthy pine underneath. To see more plants with a similar balance, browse our hybrid feminized seeds.

Questions about Snowman
01What strain is Snowman?
Snowman is a selected phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies, chosen for its extremely heavy trichome coverage. It carries the OG Kush and Durban Poison background of the Cookies family. It is best known as one of the two parents of Cereal Milk.
02Is Snowman indica or sativa?
Snowman is a sativa leaning hybrid, roughly 60% sativa and 40% indica. The first hour feels upbeat and clear headed. Larger amounts bring out a heavier, relaxing finish from the Cookies side.
03Is Snowman the same as Snowman Cookies?
No, they are different strains. Snowman is the original Girl Scout Cookies phenotype, while Snowman Cookies is a newer cross that uses a different set of parents. Check the genetics listed on a pack before you buy either one.
04What strains come from Snowman?
Cereal Milk is the most famous child of Snowman, made by crossing it with Y Life. Several newer dessert hybrids also use Snowman or Cereal Milk as a parent because of the frost and sweet dough flavour they pass on.
