Alien Gorilla Glue is a cross of Alien Technology and Gorilla Glue #4. Alien Technology is an indica built from Afghan landrace genetics, prized for its toughness, short structure and resin. Gorilla Glue #4 is the famous resin monster behind a generation of high-THC hybrids, known for sticky buds and a pine and diesel aroma. Some seed lines also include Zkittlez in the background, which adds a sweeter, fruitier note to certain phenotypes.
The aim was to keep the resin and strength of Gorilla Glue on a sturdier, more forgiving plant with stronger disease resistance. Alien Gorilla Glue largely achieves that. It is a little shorter and bushier than GG4, with the same sticky finish, and it holds up better in a humid room.
The effect starts with a warm, euphoric lift, a happy and slightly giggly mood that lasts around half an hour. Then the indica side takes over with a strong, heavy relaxation through the body. Many people describe a pleasant heaviness in the limbs and, later, a noticeable appetite. By the second hour it often becomes couch-lock, so it is best saved for evenings.
At 20% to 25% THC it is strong but not extreme by current standards, which makes it a good first step into high-THC strains for someone used to milder flower.
The aroma blends pine and sweet earth with woody and diesel notes, and some phenotypes add a hint of chocolate or citrus. The smoke is sweet and earthy on the inhale with a pine and wood finish on the exhale. Phenotypes with more Zkittlez influence taste noticeably fruitier. The leading terpenes are myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene, in roughly that order.
Buds are medium to large, dense and so covered in trichomes that they feel sticky to the touch, the trait that gave Gorilla Glue its name. Colour ranges from lime to olive green with orange pistils. The plant has broad leaves and thick, sturdy branches.
Alien Gorilla Glue is an easy and rewarding indoor plant. A four week veg and a flip at 45 to 55 cm give a finished height of 90 to 150 cm after a stretch of about 1.5 to 1.8 times, depending on the phenotype. It feeds moderately and likes extra phosphorus and potassium during flower. Keep day temperatures at 21 to 26 degrees and humidity under 50% from week five. The branches are strong enough to carry heavy buds without much support. Most plants finish in 56 to 63 days.
This strain’s mould and pest resistance make it useful in wetter parts of Canada. In coastal BC, the Maritimes and much of Quebec, where autumn humidity is a challenge, it finishes from late September to early October and handles damp spells better than most high-resin hybrids. Southern Ontario harvests at a similar time. On the Prairies, start seeds indoors in April and plant out in late May; plants usually finish before the first hard frost at the end of September. Top once or twice and spread the branches under a single net for an even canopy of 8 to 12 tops. The strain responds well to training and recovers quickly. Remove small lower branches at the flip, and thin some fan leaves at day 21 to let light reach the lower buds. The resin makes trimming sticky, so dry trimming after hanging whole branches is easier.
Buds swell and become very sticky from week six. Harvest when most trichomes are cloudy with 10% to 15% amber, usually between day 58 and day 63. Dry slowly, 10 to 14 days near 60% humidity and 18 degrees. The pine and diesel notes sharpen after two to three weeks in the jar.
Indoors, a trained canopy under a good LED gives 450 to 600 g/m², one of the stronger results for an 8 to 9 week indica. Outdoors, plants in 50 to 80 litre pots or in the ground yield 400 to 550 g in a typical Canadian season.
