Where Slurricane comes from

Slurricane strain was built in 2017 from Do-Si-Dos crossed with Purple Punch, and both halves are visible in the result. It is a moderate to heavy feeder and handles a strong bloom schedule, though it wants calcium and magnesium kept up through the stretch. The requirement is the finish: the colas are as dense as anything we sell, and from week seven humidity has to stay under 45% with air moving through the canopy, or botrytis will hollow out a cola from the inside while the outside still looks perfect. Outdoors, by region

A 9 to 10 week flower and very dense buds make this a coastal BC and southern Ontario plant outdoors, and nowhere else in the country without protection. On the Island, the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley, plant out at the end of May and harvest in the first two weeks of October, with a rain cover in place for the final fortnight rather than kept in a shed for emergencies. Height and training

Top once and use low stress training to open the plant rather than a tight screen; the branches are short and thick and do not bend easily after week two of flower. The objective is spacing, not canopy height, because every centimetre between colas is a centimetre of airflow. Remove the lower third at the flip and thin the interior again at week five. Its natural size makes Slurricane one of the simplest strains to keep inside a household plant limit while still filling jars.

Flowering and harvest cues

The weight arrives late here. Buds look complete around day 55 and then gain noticeably through to day 65, so cutting early costs real yield.
