Do-si-Dos finishes in 8 to 9 weeks, so it fits inside a normal Canadian outdoor season from the coast to the Prairies with an indoor start. The seeds are already here: they ship from our Vancouver, BC seed bank in a plain, unbranded envelope and reach every province in 3 to 7 business days, with no border inspection along the way. Each batch is viability tested before it ships and covered by our 80% germination guarantee, and every 10 and 25 seed pack is buy one get one free.
Where Do-si-Dos comes from
Do-si-Dos was bred in Oregon in the mid 2010s from OG Kush Breath, a Girl Scout Cookies phenotype, and Face Off OG, a potent, gassy OG Kush line. Most pages shorten the pedigree to Girl Scout Cookies x Face Off OG, which is accurate as far as it goes. The strain quickly became a parent itself, giving rise to crosses such as Dosi Punch with Purple Punch.
The name nods to its Cookies heritage: Do-si-dos are the peanut butter sandwich cookies sold alongside Thin Mints and Samoas, which in turn took their name from the square dance move. In 2021 a major online strain database named it strain of the year, reflecting how widely it had spread.
Do-si-Dos strain effects and experience
Do-si-Dos opens with a strong head rush: euphoric, happy and a little dreamy. Over the next half hour that gives way to a deep body relaxation that grows heavier with time. It is an evening strain, and larger amounts end on the couch or in bed.
At 19% to 26% THC, and often in the low to mid twenties, it is potent. Start small, especially if you are sensitive to fast onset, and expect the relaxation to last two to three hours.
Do-si-Dos flavour, aroma and appearance
The aroma is sweet and earthy with a floral, slightly skunky funk, fresh mint, a hint of lime and a light fuel note from the OG side. The smoke is smooth and sweet, earth and pine on the inhale with a cool, minty, floral finish. Caryophyllene, limonene and linalool are the main terpenes, and different phenotypes lean on different ones, which is why some jars smell more floral and others more like lime and fuel.
Buds are dense and chunky, lime green with lavender and purple hues, bright orange pistils and a heavy layer of trichomes. It is one of the frostiest plants in the Cookies family, which makes it a favourite for rosin.
Growing Do-si-Dos in Canada
Indoors
Do-si-Dos grows compact and bushy, with a moderate stretch. Veg for four weeks and flip at 40 to 50 cm for a finish between 80 and 140 cm. Keep the room at 21 to 26 degrees and humidity below 45% from week five of flower, as the buds are tightly packed. It handles a moderate feed well. Most phenotypes finish in 56 to 63 days, and cooler nights in the final two weeks deepen the purple.
Outdoors, by region
The 8 to 9 week bloom makes Do-si-Dos a practical outdoor plant across most of southern Canada. On the BC coast and in the interior, plant out in late May and harvest in late September. In southern Ontario, expect a finish in the first week of October. On the Prairies, germinate in April indoors and transplant after the last frost; the compact frame is easy to cover on a cold night. In Atlantic Canada, pick a sunny, sheltered spot and keep a rain cover handy for early October. Its dense buds need a dry finish anywhere.
Height and training
Top once and use a screen of green to spread the branches; Do-si-Dos responds very well to training and forms an even canopy of solid colas. Remove the lower third of growth before flowering to improve airflow. Our low stress training guide explains the technique step by step.
Flowering and harvest cues
Check trichomes from day 55. Harvest when most are cloudy with 10% to 15% amber for the full relaxing effect. Dry slowly for 10 to 14 days at 60% humidity, then cure for at least two weeks to bring out the mint and floral notes.
Do-si-Dos yield indoors and outdoors
Indoors, expect 400 to 500 g/m² from a trained canopy. Outdoors, a full-season plant gives 400 to 600 g dried. The resin content means the return in hash or rosin is higher than the dry weight alone suggests.
Phenotypes vary more than the numbers suggest. Some plants lean toward the Cookies side, shorter and frostier with a sweet, minty nose, while others lean toward Face Off OG, a little taller with more fuel and pine. Growing a 10 seed pack and keeping notes on each plant is the easiest way to find the one that suits your tent and your taste.
Who Do-si-Dos is for, and who should pick something else
Grow Do-si-Dos if you want a potent evening strain with a sweet, earthy, minty profile, if you press rosin, or if you want a compact plant that finishes outdoors across most of Canada.
Pick something else if you want a daytime strain, a low THC option, or the lightest, sweetest end of the dessert family. Growers who like Do-si-Dos feminized seeds but want a softer landing often do well with a Cookies relative that tests a few points lower, and the comparisons below are a good place to start.
How Do-si-Dos compares
Girl Scout Cookies, its grandparent, is more balanced and slightly more uplifting. OG Kush shows where the fuel and earth come from. Kush Mints shares the minty Cookies character with more gas. Purple Punch is the grape dessert strain it was crossed with to make Dosi Punch. Among our indica feminized seeds, Do-si-Dos is the frost and resin pick of the Cookies family.
