Gelato Cake Strain Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Price range: $65.00 through $240.00

Gelato Cake strain seeds put two of the best known dessert cultivars of the last decade into one plant: Gelato #33, the Larry Bird cut, crossed with Wedding Cake. The result is a 75/25 indica leaning hybrid that tests 20% to 27% THC, smells like vanilla frosting and warm dough, and finishes in 8 to 9 weeks on a short, bushy frame that rarely outgrows a 150 cm tent. Our feminized seeds are stored in Vancouver, viability tested before packing, and delivered anywhere in Canada in 3 to 7 business days.

Gelato Cake Feminized at a glance: Gelato Cake is a 75/25 indica dominant hybrid of Gelato #33 and Wedding Cake that flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, tests 20% to 27% THC, stays between 80 and 120 cm indoors and gives 400 to 500 g/m² of dense, purple-flecked buds with a vanilla, berry and baked dough flavour.

Two dessert classics in one pack, and only one province between you and it

Gelato and Wedding Cake are both strains Canadians used to buy as imported seed and wait on for weeks. Gelato Cake from us skips that wait entirely. The packs are already on a shelf in Vancouver, BC, so an order leaves in plain, unbranded packaging and lands in Winnipeg, Moncton or Kelowna in 3 to 7 business days with no customs declaration at all. Each batch is germination tested before it is packed and backed by our 80% germination guarantee, and the 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free.

Where Gelato Cake comes from

Gelato Cake is a California cross of Gelato #33 and Wedding Cake, first circulating as clones and then as seed around 2019. Gelato #33, nicknamed Larry Bird after the basketball jersey number, is the most widely grown Gelato phenotype: sweet, creamy and balanced, from the Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Cookies line. Wedding Cake, also called Pink Cookies, brings a vanilla sweetness, heavy frost and a stronger indica body. Put together, they give a plant that is shorter and sleepier than Gelato and fruitier than Wedding Cake.

Every seed line sold under the name traces back to these two parents. Expect most plants to show the compact, indica leaning structure, with a few taller, more Gelato-like ones.

Gelato Cake strain effects and experience

The first few minutes are pleasant and bright: a lift in mood, a softening of whatever the day left behind, and a mild pressure around the eyes. Over the next half hour the Wedding Cake side takes over and the body gets heavy in a warm, comfortable way. It is a strain for the end of the evening, a film, a long meal, or a quiet hour with music, and by the two hour mark most people are ready to sleep.

At 20% to 27% THC it is firmly in the strong category. The gentle onset hides that, so start small and wait fifteen minutes.

Gelato Cake flavour, aroma and appearance

Open a jar and the first note is vanilla frosting, followed by baked dough and a sweet berry that sits somewhere between blueberry and raspberry. A peppery, slightly earthy edge shows up when the bud is broken, from the caryophyllene that dominates the terpene profile alongside limonene and myrcene, with some phenotypes carrying a floral linalool note. The smoke is thick and creamy, and the vanilla lingers on the exhale for a long time.

The buds are dense and round, mint green with lavender to deep purple streaks and a thick coat of trichomes, and they are spotted with bright orange pistils. They are heavier than they look, which is a Wedding Cake trait, and they hold their shape through a slow dry without going flat.

Growing Gelato Cake in Canada

Indoors

Gelato Cake is one of the easier dessert strains to grow indoors. A three to four week veg from seed and a flip at 40 to 50 cm gives finished plants of 80 to 120 cm after a stretch of about 1.3 to 1.5 times. It likes 22 to 26 degrees in the day and a moderate feed; it shows nutrient burn on the leaf tips before most strains, so stay at three quarters of the label dose through early flower and watch the tips. Most plants finish in 56 to 63 days, with a few phenotypes needing a week more. The buds are compact, so from week five keep humidity at 40% to 45% and keep a fan moving air under the canopy.

Outdoors, by region

An 8 to 9 week flower puts Gelato Cake within reach of most Canadian gardens. On the BC coast and in southern Ontario it finishes in the last week of September or the first days of October, and a spot with morning sun helps the dense buds dry off after dew. Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia growers should transplant in late May into the warmest, most sheltered bed they have and expect an early October harvest; the short plant is easy to drape with a rain cover if the forecast turns wet. On the Prairies, germinate indoors in the first half of April, harden off in mid May, and plant out around the May long weekend; it will usually finish in the final week of September, and in a fabric pot it can be wheeled into a garage on a frost night.

Height and training

Top once above the fourth node and pull the side branches out with ties for two weeks before the flip. That turns a naturally bushy plant into an even canopy of six to ten tops and opens the centre, which matters more than yield with a strain this dense. Remove the small growth on the lowest third of the plant at the start of week three of flower.

Flowering and harvest cues

The colour usually appears in weeks six and seven, especially if the room drops to 16 to 18 degrees at night. That is also when the calyxes swell. Start checking trichomes at day 55: mostly cloudy with a few amber heads gives the fullest vanilla and berry flavour, while 15% to 20% amber makes the effect noticeably sleepier. Dry for 10 to 14 days at around 60% humidity and 18 degrees, then cure for at least three weeks, because the frosting note is thin for the first fortnight and fills out after that.

Gelato Cake yield indoors and outdoors

Indoors, a topped and spread canopy gives 400 to 500 g/m², which is respectable for a plant that stays this short. Outdoors in a full coastal BC or Ontario season, a Gelato Cake plant in a 50 litre pot or in the ground gives 450 to 550 g dried, and a Prairie plant with a shorter season still fills 300 to 400 g. The dense buds lose less weight in drying than airy sativa colas, and the heavy trichome cover gives a good return in dry sift or rosin. To estimate a harvest early, see our yield per plant guide.

Who Gelato Cake is for, and who should pick something else

Grow Gelato Cake if you want a dessert strain on a plant that fits a small tent or a balcony, if you prefer a calm evening strain to a racy one, or if you want Gelato flavour with a heavier body and a shorter plant. Gelato Cake seeds are feminized, so every plant you pop is a flowering female.

Pick something else if you want a daytime strain, if you would rather have the lighter, more social Gelato effect, or if big outdoor weight is the goal, since this is a compact plant by design.

How Gelato Cake compares

Gelato is the lighter parent: a little taller, more balanced in effect and fruitier, with less vanilla. Wedding Cake, the other parent, is sweeter and heavier with more frost and less berry. Biscotti is the closest match in size and effect, trading the frosting for cookie dough and a touch of gas, while London Pound Cake takes the cake idea toward lemon and berry with more potency. Among our indica feminized seeds, Gelato Cake is the easiest way to grow a dessert jar at home.

Frequently asked questions about Gelato Cake

Is Gelato Cake indica or sativa?

Gelato Cake is an indica dominant hybrid, about 75% indica and 25% sativa. It comes from Gelato #33 and Wedding Cake, grows short and bushy, and has a relaxing, body-heavy effect after a short, cheerful start. Most people save it for the evening.

How strong is Gelato Cake strain?

Gelato Cake usually tests between 20% and 27% THC, with CBD under 1%. The onset is gentle, which can hide how strong it is, so wait fifteen minutes before taking more. The effect lasts two to three hours and ends sleepy.

What does Gelato Cake taste like?

It tastes like vanilla frosting and baked dough with a sweet berry note, and a peppery edge from caryophyllene when the bud is broken. The vanilla comes mainly from Wedding Cake and the berry from Gelato. A cure of three weeks or longer brings the frosting forward.

How long does Gelato Cake take to flower?

Gelato Cake flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, 56 to 63 days from the switch to 12 hours of light, and a few phenotypes want up to 10 weeks. Outdoors in Canada it finishes in late September or early October, so it suits most regions when started on time.

Why Gelato Cake is the dessert strain we suggest for a first small tent

Most people who ask us for a dessert strain are growing in a closet tent or a spare-room corner, and Gelato Cake fits that space without constant pruning. Ordering it from MJ Seeds Canada keeps the whole process inside the country: we ship from Vancouver, BC, the parcel is plain and unmarked, and delivery takes 3 to 7 business days. Orders over $200 ship free, and for $30 you can add tracking and insurance with one free reshipment if a parcel goes astray.

We have sold seeds from Vancouver since 2009 and viability test every batch in house. Germinate with the cup of water and paper towel method in our germination guide and the pack is covered by the 80% germination guarantee. Buy the 10 or 25 seed pack and a second pack of the same size is free through our buy one get one free offer, so Gelato Cake can share an order with a daytime strain for the other half of the tent. Orders over $420 come with 10 extra seeds.

You can pay by Interac e-Transfer, credit card, Bitcoin or cash, and if the buds are turning purple and you are unsure about the harvest date, our Vancouver team answers by phone, email, WhatsApp and live chat seven days a week.
