Super Glue Feminized at a glance: Super Glue is a roughly 80/20 indica dominant hybrid that flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, tests 18% to 24% THC and yields 450 to 550 g/m² indoors of chunky, sticky, lime-green buds with a sweet skunk, pine and caramel nose.
A pre-legalization classic, now a domestic parcel from British Columbia
Super Glue was being grown in Canadian basements long before the Cannabis Act, usually from seed that came in through the mail and a fair bit of luck. Today it does not need either. Our feminized Super Glue seeds are already in Canada, held at our Vancouver, BC seed bank and sent in plain packaging to every province in 3 to 7 business days with no customs paperwork. Each batch is viability tested before packing, covered by our 80% germination guarantee, and the 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free.
Where Super Glue comes from
Super Glue strain, often written Superglue, was released by a Dutch seed collective in the early 2000s and is usually described as Northern Lights crossed with Afghani. One of its breeders has since clarified that the Afghani side was really an Afghani dominant Skunk #1 line, which explains the sweet skunk note sitting on top of a classic hashplant base. Either way, the genetics are almost entirely from the Hindu Kush and the old Northern Lights stock, which is why the plant is so short, fast and tough.
The name refers to the resin. Trim it with bare hands and your fingers stick together within minutes. That has led to plenty of confusion with Gorilla Glue #4, a much later diesel strain, and with newer crosses that put both names together. Super Glue is the older, sweeter, more indica of the two, and it predates the Gorilla Glue family by about a decade.
Super Glue strain effects and experience
Super Glue starts with a soft, contented lift and a warm loosening in the neck and shoulders. For the first hour many people stay surprisingly social and functional, happy to talk, cook or watch a film. As the session goes on the body side takes over and the couch becomes very appealing, which is exactly where the name earns its second meaning.
With 18% to 24% THC it is solidly strong without the sharp edge of the newer 30% strains, and the effect is smooth and predictable. It is a good fit for a relaxed evening after work or for experienced users who want something classic and steady rather than racy.
Super Glue flavour, aroma and appearance
The jar smells sweet and skunky, with fresh pine, a sticky caramel note and a dusty, earthy hash base from the Afghani side. Break a bud and a faint lemon peel and pepper come out. The smoke is thick and smooth, sweet and piney on the inhale with a resinous, hashy exhale that lingers. Myrcene, caryophyllene and pinene lead the terpene profile, which explains the earthy, peppery and forest notes.
Buds are chunky and round, light to lime green, with short orange pistils and a coat of trichomes so thick the leaves near the buds look sugared. Fan leaves are broad and dark. It is not a colourful strain, but the frost alone makes it look impressive in a jar.
Growing Super Glue in Canada
Indoors
Super Glue is one of the easiest plants in our catalogue. Veg three to four weeks, flip at 35 to 50 cm, and it stretches only about 1.3 to 1.5 times to a finished height of 80 to 130 cm. It handles a range of temperatures, 20 to 27 degrees, and a moderate feed in soil or coco without much fuss. The main thing it asks for is airflow: the buds are thick and the leaves are broad, so an oscillating fan at canopy level and one below it, plus humidity under 50% from week five, keep the colas clean. Most plants finish in 52 to 60 days.
Outdoors, by region
With mountain indica genes and an 8 to 9 week bloom, Super Glue is among the most practical outdoor strains for Canada. In BC, southern Ontario and Quebec it is usually ready by mid to late September. In the Maritimes and Newfoundland, plant out in early June after the last frost and expect a harvest in the last week of September; the compact shape is easy to wrap in frost cloth on a cold night. On the Prairies, start indoors in early April, move plants outside in late May, and most will finish before the end of September. It is also a strong candidate for northern Ontario and the BC Interior where summers are short. Our outdoor cultivation guide covers soil prep and frost protection.
Height and training
Super Glue grows like a little Christmas tree, with one fat central cola and sturdy side branches. You can leave it untrained and still get good results, but topping once and opening the centre with gentle low stress training gives four to eight thick tops and better airflow. Remove small, shaded growth on the bottom 15 to 20 cm before the flip; it rarely becomes anything worth trimming.
Flowering and harvest cues
Pistils turn orange quickly, around week six, and the buds swell noticeably in the last ten days. Begin checking trichomes at day 52; mostly cloudy with 10% to 20% amber gives the classic heavy, relaxing effect, while an earlier harvest at mostly cloudy keeps it lighter. Dry for 10 to 14 days at around 60% humidity and give it a two week cure; the caramel sweetness becomes much clearer once the chlorophyll smell fades.
Super Glue yield indoors and outdoors
Indoors, Super Glue regularly produces 450 to 550 g/m² from a simple setup, and the dense buds weigh more than they look. Outdoors, a plant in a 50 to 80 litre pot or in the ground gives 500 to 700 g dried in a full season, and Prairie and Maritime plants that go out a little later usually still reach 300 to 450 g. The resin coverage also makes it a good choice for hash and dry sift; the trim is worth keeping.
Who Super Glue is for, and who should pick something else
Grow Super Glue if you want a forgiving first plant that still yields heavily, if you garden somewhere with a short summer, or if you like old-school sweet skunk and hash flavours more than modern candy and gas. It also suits growers who want a dependable plant to fill a tent beside something more demanding.
Pick something else if you want a daytime or creative strain, where a sativa leaning plant will suit you better; if you want the diesel and chocolate of the newer glue, where Gorilla Glue #4 is the one you are thinking of; or if bright colour matters, since Super Glue stays green.
How Super Glue compares
Northern Lights, its parent, is even shorter and a touch faster, with a cleaner, sweeter, less skunky aroma. Afghan Kush represents the other side of the family: earthier, hashier and more sedating. Next to Alien Gorilla Glue, Super Glue is sweeter and simpler to grow but less potent. It belongs with our indica feminized seeds and is one of the easiest picks in our beginner seeds guide.
Frequently asked questions about Super Glue
Is Super Glue the same as Gorilla Glue?
No. Super Glue is an older indica from Northern Lights and Afghani genetics, released in the early 2000s, with a sweet skunk and caramel flavour. Gorilla Glue #4 is a later Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel cross with a diesel nose. Both are named for sticky resin, which is where the confusion starts.
Is Super Glue indica or sativa?
Super Glue is an indica dominant hybrid, around 80% indica and 20% sativa. It grows short and bushy with thick colas, and the effect is relaxing and steady, starting sociable and turning heavier and more physical as the session goes on.
How strong is the Super Glue strain?
Super Glue usually tests between 18% and 24% THC, with CBD under 1%. It is strong, but smooth and predictable rather than overwhelming, which makes it a comfortable evening strain for people who are used to cannabis.
How long does Super Glue take to flower?
Super Glue flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, about 52 to 60 days from the switch to 12/12. Outdoors in Canada it is usually ready by mid to late September, early enough for the Prairies and the Maritimes when seeds are started indoors in April.
