Pink Starburst Feminized at a glance: Pink Starburst is a balanced hybrid of Blueberry, Headband and Sour Diesel that flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, tests 20% to 26% THC and yields 400 to 550 g/m² of lime green, frosty buds with a floral inhale and a sweet strawberry candy exhale.
A floral candy strain for a Canadian August, from seeds that never wait at customs
Pink Starburst does its best work when August days are warm and the nights start to cool, which describes most Canadian gardens south of the boreal line. You do not need to import it to find out. The seeds sit in our Vancouver, BC seed bank, leave in a plain envelope once payment clears and reach Halifax, Hamilton or Red Deer in 3 to 7 business days by domestic post. Every pack is covered by our 80% germination guarantee when you use the cup of water and paper towel method.
Where Pink Starburst comes from
Pink Starburst strain was bred in the United States as a three-part project. A Blueberry and Headband hybrid supplied the berry sweetness and the OG structure, and that plant was then crossed back to Sour Diesel three times to lock in the fuel, the vigour and the head-first effect. A second published version lists the same three families, Sour Diesel, an OG Kush line and Blueberry, combined in a different order, so the genetic ingredients agree even if the recipe card varies.
The name comes from the flavour rather than the lineage. Smokers kept comparing the exhale to the pink square in a pack of fruit chews, and the label stuck. It is not related to the plain Starburst strain, which is a Fire OG and Bubba Kush cross with a heavier, gassier character. Expect two main phenotypes: a stocky one that finishes around day 55 and a taller one that wants another week or so.
Pink Starburst strain effects and experience
The opening is quick and clear. Within a few minutes most people feel a lift behind the eyes, a better mood and an urge to talk, and reviews mention “talkative” and “uplifted” more often than any other words. That bright phase holds for roughly an hour and a half, which makes it a good fit for a walk, a cookout or an afternoon of tinkering in the garage. The body side arrives late and gently, a loosening in the shoulders rather than a weight on the limbs.
At 20% to 26% THC it is stronger than it feels at first. Dry mouth is the most common complaint, and a few people mention a light headache or dizziness after a large session, so start small and keep water nearby.
Pink Starburst flavour, aroma and appearance
The jar opens on flowers: something like rose and violet over fresh-cut stems. Break a bud and strawberry and sweet berry candy step forward, with a faint sour fuel note from the Sour Diesel side tucked underneath. The inhale tastes floral and almost perfumed; the exhale is where the candy shows, sweet, slightly tart and lingering on the tongue. Limonene, caryophyllene and myrcene usually lead the terpene reports, and well grown flower often carries a total terpene content in the 1.5% to 3% range, which explains how loud a small jar can be.
The buds are lime green, medium sized and conical, with long peach and orange pistils and a heavy coat of resin. Some plants blush pink or lavender at the tips when late September nights drop under ten degrees, although most stay green.
Growing Pink Starburst in Canada
Indoors
Pink Starburst is an easy plant for a second grow and a manageable one for a careful first. Veg for four weeks and flip at about 40 cm; the stretch is around 1.5 to 2 times, so plan on a finished height of 90 to 150 cm depending on phenotype. It prefers 24 to 27 degrees under the lights and steady air movement, and it feeds at a medium rate. The Sour Diesel influence shows as a hunger for calcium and magnesium in mid flower, so a Cal-Mag supplement from week three of bloom is cheap insurance. Harvest the short phenotype from about day 55 and the taller one closer to day 65.
Outdoors, by region
An 8 to 9 week bloom gives this strain a realistic outdoor window across most of Canada. In the Lower Mainland, on Vancouver Island and in southern Ontario, plants set out in late May finish in the last week of September. The Okanagan, the Kootenays, the Eastern Townships and the Annapolis Valley usually see a harvest in the first days of October. On the Prairies, start seeds indoors in mid April, harden plants off for a week and transplant after the last frost; a warm, sheltered spot near a south wall gives Calgary, Saskatoon and Brandon growers a finished plant by early October. The buds are airy enough to dry quickly after rain, which is a real advantage in a wet autumn.
Height and training
The taller phenotype stretches hard in the first three weeks of flower, so top it once in veg and spread the branches with soft ties. A screen or a single layer of net keeps the colas level and stops the tops from crowding the light. Remove the lowest growth before the flip to send energy to the main bud sites. Keep humidity between 45% and 50% in late flower; our humidity guide covers the targets for each stage.
Flowering and harvest cues
Pistils darken from about day 45, and the calyxes swell noticeably in the final ten days. Use a loupe from day 52: mostly cloudy trichomes with a few amber heads give the brightest, most talkative result, while letting 15% turn amber softens the finish. Dry for 10 to 14 days at around 18 degrees and 60% humidity. The floral notes survive a slow dry and cure, but they fade quickly in a warm room.
Pink Starburst yield indoors and outdoors
A trained indoor canopy under a good LED returns 400 to 550 g/m², with the short phenotype landing toward the lower end and the stretchy one toward the top. Outdoors, plants in 50 litre pots or open ground give 500 to 800 g each in a warm season, with the best numbers coming from the BC coast and southern Ontario. Prairie plants started indoors in April usually finish near the middle of that range.
Who Pink Starburst is for, and who should pick something else
Pick Pink Starburst feminized seeds if you want a daytime hybrid that keeps you chatty, if floral and candy flavours appeal more than gas, or if you garden somewhere with a normal Canadian September and want a plant that finishes on time.
Look elsewhere if you want a heavy nightcap or a dense, purple show jar. For pure fuel and a sharper head rush, Sour Diesel is the grandparent to grow; for something deeper and gassier with a similar candy name, the plain Starburst is the better fit.
How Pink Starburst compares
Headband shares its OG and Sour Diesel roots but grows heavier and lands with a pressure behind the forehead instead of a floral lift. Classic Blueberry supplies the berry side and is shorter, sleepier and more indica. Starburst, despite the similar name, is a different and much gassier cross. You can compare more balanced, easygoing crosses in our hybrid feminized seeds range.
Frequently asked questions about Pink Starburst
Is Pink Starburst indica or sativa?
Pink Starburst is a balanced hybrid that leans slightly sativa, usually somewhere between 50/50 and 60/40. The effect starts in the head with an upbeat, talkative lift and only relaxes the body later, so most people treat it as a daytime or early evening strain.
What does Pink Starburst strain taste like?
Pink Starburst tastes floral on the inhale and like sweet strawberry candy on the exhale. Rose and violet notes sit on top, berry and fruit chew sweetness come through when the bud is broken, and a faint sour fuel note from its Sour Diesel side shows at the end.
Is Pink Starburst the same as Starburst strain?
No, they are separate strains with different parents. Pink Starburst comes from Blueberry, Headband and Sour Diesel and leans floral and uplifting, while Starburst is a Fire OG and Bubba Kush cross that is gassier and heavier. Check the lineage on the label before you buy either one.
How strong is Pink Starburst?
Pink Starburst usually tests between 20% and 26% THC, with CBD under 1%. That is above average for a daytime strain, so a small first session is wise. Dry mouth is the most common side effect, and a few people report a light headache if they overdo it.
