Truffle Cake Feminized at a glance: Truffle Cake is a balanced hybrid of Gorilla Butter F2 and Pancakes that flowers in 9 to 10 weeks, tests 20% to 27% THC and yields 400 to 550 g/m² of dense, frosty buds with a vanilla cake, cocoa and nutty flavour over earthy pepper.

A long-flowering dessert strain is a coastal plant, and the coast is where we ship from

Truffle Cake wants a long, mild autumn, and the place that gives it one best is the same stretch of coast our seed bank sits on. From our Vancouver, BC shelf, the seeds go out in plain packaging and reach the Island, the Interior, Ontario or the Atlantic provinces in 3 to 7 business days by domestic post, with no border crossing at any point. Every pack is covered by our 80% germination guarantee, and the 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free.

Where Truffle Cake comes from

Truffle Cake strain is a modern American dessert cross from a breeding house known for resin-heavy Cookies and Gorilla lines. One parent is Gorilla Butter F2, a second-generation selection of Gorilla Glue #4 crossed with Peanut Butter Breath, which supplies the thick trichomes, the earthy pepper and a nutty, savoury base. The other is Pancakes, a cross of Kush Mints and London Pound Cake, which adds vanilla sweetness, a faint mint and the bakery character that gives the strain its name.

Truffle Cake sits close to a 50/50 balance. Some listings lean it slightly indica and others slightly sativa, which mostly reflects phenotype differences. It should not be confused with White Truffle or Black Truffle, which are separate strains from different family trees, even though the shared word and the dark, savoury notes invite comparison.

Truffle Cake strain effects and experience

Truffle Cake opens with a burst of good humour and euphoria, the sort of lift that makes a dinner conversation easier and a film funnier. After twenty minutes or so the body relaxes, the shoulders drop and a calm contentment settles in, but it rarely tips into heavy sedation unless you push the dose. Reviewers most often use the words uplifted, relaxed and happy.

At 20% to 27% THC, this is a potent strain. Dry mouth and occasional dizziness are reported, and people prone to anxiety sometimes find a large session too much, so start small and give it time to unfold.

Truffle Cake flavour, aroma and appearance

The jar smells sweet and baked: vanilla frosting, cocoa powder and a light, nutty richness, like a chocolate cake with hazelnuts. Grind it and the Gorilla side becomes obvious, with earthy pepper, a little diesel and a hint of sour citrus. The smoke is smooth and creamy, vanilla and sugar on the inhale and cocoa, nuts and pepper on the exhale. Caryophyllene is the dominant terpene, supported by limonene and myrcene, which is why the sweetness always has a spicy backbone.

The buds are dense, chunky and so heavily coated that they look sugared. Calyxes are lime to forest green, often with purple streaks after cool nights, and the pistils are short and amber. Bag appeal is excellent.

Growing Truffle Cake in Canada

Indoors

Truffle Cake is a moderate grow that rewards attention in the last few weeks. Veg for four weeks and flip at about 40 cm; the stretch runs 1.5 to 2 times, giving a finished height of 90 to 140 cm. Keep the room at 23 to 27 degrees, and lower humidity steadily through flower: 50% in the first weeks, under 45% from week six, and around 40% in the final ten days. The buds are dense enough that botrytis is the main risk, so keep fans moving air both above and below the canopy. Feed at a medium rate with a little extra phosphorus and potassium from week four of bloom. Most plants finish between day 63 and day 70.

Outdoors, by region

With a 9 to 10 week bloom, Truffle Cake is an outdoor plant only for the warmest, longest seasons in Canada: the BC coast, the Gulf Islands, the Fraser Valley and southern Ontario around Niagara and Essex County. Start seeds indoors in April, plant out in late May and expect a harvest in the first half of October, ideally under a rain cover from mid September because dense buds and autumn rain are a poor mix. Growers on the Prairies, in northern Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces should grow it indoors or in a greenhouse, or use light deprivation to start flowering in early August.

Height and training

Top once at the fourth or fifth node and train four to eight main branches into a flat canopy. A trellis net at the flip keeps colas evenly spaced and supports them later. Strip the lower third of the plant before week three of flower to improve airflow where rot usually starts.

Flowering and harvest cues

The resin swells and the calyxes fatten in the last two weeks, so do not cut early. From day 60, check trichomes with a loupe: mostly cloudy with 10% amber gives the best balance of euphoria and calm. Dry at 18 degrees and 58% to 62% humidity for 12 to 14 days, then cure for at least two weeks; the cocoa and vanilla develop during the cure. Our humidity guide covers settings for every stage.

Truffle Cake yield indoors and outdoors

Indoors, a trained canopy under a good LED returns 400 to 550 g/m² of heavy, dense flower. Outdoors on the coast or in southern Ontario, a plant in a 60 litre pot or garden bed gives 450 to 650 g. The trichome density makes Truffle Cake a strong choice for rosin and dry sift, where the return per gram is above average.

Who Truffle Cake is for, and who should pick something else

Grow Truffle Cake feminized seeds if you like dessert strains with depth rather than pure candy, if you want a balanced effect for evenings with friends, or if you press rosin and want maximum resin. It suits growers who can manage humidity carefully in a tent.

Pick something else if you want an outdoor plant for a short northern season or a strain that finishes in eight weeks. Beginners who struggle with humidity control may also find the dense buds unforgiving.

How Truffle Cake compares

Peanut Butter Breath is a grandparent and brings the nutty, savoury base, but grows smaller and lands heavier. Gorilla Glue #4 is the source of the resin and the earthy pepper. London Pound Cake, a grandparent through Pancakes, is fruitier and sweeter. Black Truffle shares the name and the dark, rich tone but comes from Gelato 33 and leans more indica. Frequently asked questions about Truffle Cake

Is Truffle Cake indica or sativa?

Truffle Cake is a balanced hybrid, close to 50/50. Some phenotypes lean slightly indica and others slightly sativa. Its effect usually starts with euphoria and a happy mood, then eases into body relaxation without heavy sedation.

What is Truffle Cake strain a cross of?

Truffle Cake is a cross of Gorilla Butter F2 and Pancakes. Gorilla Butter comes from Gorilla Glue #4 and Peanut Butter Breath, while Pancakes comes from Kush Mints and London Pound Cake, which explains the mix of earthy pepper, nuts and vanilla cake.

What does Truffle Cake taste like?

Truffle Cake tastes like vanilla cake with cocoa and toasted nuts, with an earthy, peppery finish. The sweetness comes from the Pancakes side and the pepper and nutty depth from Gorilla Butter. A slow cure brings out the cocoa.

Is Truffle Cake the same as White Truffle?

No, Truffle Cake and White Truffle are different strains. White Truffle is a selection from the Gorilla Butter family, while Truffle Cake crosses Gorilla Butter F2 with Pancakes, adding vanilla, mint and cake notes. Black Truffle is another separate strain.

Why Truffle Cake is worth ten weeks of bloom for growers who press their own rosin

Ten weeks of bloom is a commitment, and Truffle Cake pays it back in resin as much as in flavour, which is why rosin makers keep asking for it. The seeds ship from our Vancouver, BC seed bank in plain, unbranded packaging and reach anywhere in Canada in 3 to 7 business days. Orders over $200 ship free, and the $30 tracked and insured option covers one free reshipment if a parcel is lost.

We have sold seeds from Vancouver since 2009, and every Truffle Cake pack is covered by our 80% germination guarantee when you use the cup of water and paper towel method in our germination guide. The 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free, so you can add a faster strain for the same tent cycle. Orders over $420 come with 10 free seeds.
