Golden Goat Strain Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Price range: $65.00 through $240.00

Golden Goat strain is a sunny, sativa dominant hybrid with a story as good as its flavour: a chance pollination in Topeka, Kansas, between a Hawaiian-Romulan male and Island Sweet Skunk. It tests 17% to 23% THC, takes 9 to 11 weeks to flower and grows tall, rewarding growers with sweet tropical fruit, a hint of skunk and a clear, upbeat high. It is a daytime strain for people who want energy and focus rather than sleep. Our feminized seeds are already in Canada and leave Vancouver, BC in plain packaging, arriving in 3 to 7 business days.

Golden Goat Feminized at a glance: Golden Goat is a sativa dominant cross of Hawaiian-Romulan and Island Sweet Skunk that flowers in 9 to 11 weeks, tests 17% to 23% THC and yields 400 to 500 g/m² of lime-green, bright orange-haired buds with a sweet pineapple, citrus and light skunk flavour.

A long-season sativa, so the clock starts the day the seeds arrive

Golden Goat comes from Hawaiian and Kansas genetics, and both places have longer summers than most of Canada. That makes timing the whole game: an April start indoors, a late May transplant and a sunny site are what get it to harvest before the frost. Ordering from a Canadian seed bank removes the weeks lost to overseas shipping. Our packs leave Vancouver, BC in a plain envelope and reach growers in Nanaimo, Kingston or Fredericton in 3 to 7 business days. Every pack carries our 80% germination guarantee, and 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free.

Where Golden Goat comes from

Golden Goat strain was born by accident in Topeka, Kansas. A Hawaiian-Romulan male, itself a mix of Hawaiian sativa and the Canadian Romulan indica line, slipped pollen onto an Island Sweet Skunk female, a fruity, fast-growing sativa from the Pacific Northwest. The grower noticed the result, kept the seeds and selected a plant whose sweet smell reminded friends of the syrup in a soda bottle recycling machine. That plant became Golden Goat, and its reputation spread from the Midwest to Colorado dispensaries in the early 2010s.

Because of the Romulan link, part of Golden Goat’s family tree traces back to British Columbia, which gives the strain an unexpected Canadian connection. It has since become a parent in its own right, most notably of Golden Pineapple, and the name is now shorthand for a sweet, energetic sativa. Keep in mind that it is not a high-octane modern dessert strain; its appeal is flavour and a clean, happy lift rather than record THC.

Golden Goat strain effects and experience

Golden Goat starts in the head. Within minutes there is a burst of energy, a cheerful mood and a quick, creative focus that suits writing, sketching, cleaning the house or a long walk. The physical side is light, a gentle relaxation in the shoulders that keeps the session from feeling jittery. The effect stays bright for two to three hours and tapers off gently rather than ending in a crash or a nap, which is why many people keep it for mornings and afternoons.

THC usually sits in the high teens to low twenties, a moderate level that suits people who find many modern strains overwhelming. That said, sativa heavy strains can bring on racing thoughts in sensitive people, especially in larger doses. Dry mouth is the most common side effect.

Golden Goat flavour, aroma and appearance

The aroma is sweet and tropical, with ripe pineapple, honey and a squeeze of lemon floating over a soft, earthy skunk base. Grinding a bud releases more citrus and a light spice. The smoke is smooth and sweet, pineapple and honey on the inhale with a slightly sour, skunky exhale that lingers. Terpinolene is often reported as the leading terpene, supported by myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene, a profile that matches the fresh, fruity, uplifting character.

The buds are medium sized and somewhat airy compared to modern indica hybrids, with bright lime calyxes, long tangerine to rusty orange pistils and a good coat of trichomes. The long orange hairs give the flowers their golden look, which may be as good an explanation of the name as the soda bottle story.

Growing Golden Goat in Canada

Indoors

Golden Goat stretches. Expect it to roughly double in height after the flip, so veg for only three to four weeks and flip at 40 to 50 cm to finish between 120 and 180 cm. It prefers a warm room, 24 to 28 degrees with lights on, and a drier atmosphere than most strains, with humidity around 50% in early bloom and 40% to 45% from week six. The plant is a moderate feeder with a slight sensitivity to nitrogen in late bloom; taper nitrogen from week four of flower to avoid dark, clawing leaves. Bloom runs 63 to 77 days, and some phenotypes need every one of them.

Outdoors, by region

A 9 to 11 week flowering period limits outdoor Golden Goat to Canada’s longest, warmest seasons: coastal British Columbia, the southern Okanagan and southern Ontario. On Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and the Fraser Valley, start indoors in April and plant out in late May for a harvest in the first half of October; the airy buds handle autumn moisture better than dense indica hybrids, but a rain cover still helps. In the Niagara region and along Lake Erie, a warm year brings it in around mid October. For the Prairies, the north and Atlantic Canada, grow Golden Goat in a greenhouse or indoors, or choose a faster sativa for the garden.

Height and training

Training is essential indoors. Top twice in veg, then use low stress training and a screen of green to spread the branches into an even canopy. Supercropping the tallest branches during the first two weeks of the stretch keeps the plant under the light. Outdoors, give it room: plants can reach 2 to 3 metres, so tie the main branches to stakes or a cage before the buds get heavy.

Flowering and harvest cues

Sativa buds keep putting on weight late, and Golden Goat often throws a fresh wave of white pistils around week eight before it truly ripens. Wait for the trichomes: mostly cloudy with a few amber heads gives the clearest, most energetic effect. Dry for 10 to 14 days at 18 to 20 degrees and 60% humidity, then cure for at least three weeks; the honey and pineapple notes become much stronger with time.

Golden Goat yield indoors and outdoors

Indoors, a trained canopy under a strong LED produces 400 to 500 g/m², with the best results coming from a full screen of green. Outdoors in coastal BC or southern Ontario, plants grown in the ground or in 100 litre containers can produce 500 to 800 g each in a long, sunny season. The buds are less dense than modern hybrids, so the yield comes from size and number of colas rather than weight per bud.

Who Golden Goat is for, and who should pick something else

Grow Golden Goat feminized seeds if you want a sweet, tropical daytime strain, prefer a moderate THC level, or enjoy training tall plants. It suits growers with tall tents or long-season gardens who are patient with a ten week bloom.

Choose something else if your tent is short, if you garden on the Prairies or in the north without a greenhouse, or if you want a heavy evening strain. A shorter, faster hybrid will be much easier to fit into those conditions.

How Golden Goat compares

Golden Pineapple is its best known child, shorter, faster and more pineapple forward thanks to its Pineapple Kush side. Hawaiian Skunk shares the same blend of island fruit and skunk on a more classic plant. Jack Herer is the obvious classic comparison for an energetic, creative sativa. You will find more uplifting strains in our sativa feminized seeds, and our outdoor cultivation guide explains how to plan a long season plant around a Canadian frost date.

Frequently asked questions about Golden Goat

Why is it called Golden Goat?

Golden Goat got its name from its sweet aroma, which reminded the original grower’s friends of the syrup smell in a soda bottle recycling machine. The bright orange pistils that give the buds a golden look are often given as a second reason. The strain itself came from an accidental cross in Topeka, Kansas.

Is Golden Goat indica or sativa?

Golden Goat is a sativa dominant hybrid, around 65% sativa and 35% indica. Its effects are energetic, upbeat and creative with only light body relaxation, so most people use it during the day rather than at night.

How strong is Golden Goat?

Golden Goat usually tests between 17% and 23% THC, with very little CBD. That makes it moderately strong by modern standards, a good fit for people who want a clear, lively high without the intensity of 30% dessert strains.

Can you grow Golden Goat outdoors in Canada?

Yes, but only where the season is long and warm, such as coastal BC, the southern Okanagan and southern Ontario. It needs 9 to 11 weeks of flowering and finishes in early to mid October. In the Prairies, the north and Atlantic Canada, a greenhouse or indoor grow is the safer choice.
