Black Ice Strain Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Price range: $65.00 through $240.00

Black Ice strain seeds grow a frost-heavy, old-school indica: most lines cross Black Domina, the dark Afghan hash plant, with White Widow, and the result tests 18% to 25% THC with an earthy, peppery, pine and berry nose. It is about 70% indica, finishes in 8 to 9 weeks, stays between 80 and 130 cm indoors and covers itself in resin, which is where the name comes from. The effect is a quick lift followed by deep, heavy relaxation. Our feminized seeds are already in Canada and ship domestically from Vancouver, BC in 3 to 7 business days.

Black Ice Feminized at a glance: Black Ice is a 70/30 indica dominant cross of Black Domina and White Widow that flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, tests 18% to 25% THC, grows 80 to 130 cm indoors and yields 400 to 500 g/m² of dense, resin-caked buds that range from mint green to near black.

An Afghan-bred indica for cool Canadian nights, shipped from the mild West Coast

Black Ice comes from hash plant genetics that grew up in cold mountain valleys, and it finishes before most Canadian autumns turn wet. The seeds are already on this side of the border: they leave our Vancouver, BC seed bank in plain packaging and reach every province in 3 to 7 business days, with no customs delay to eat into a spring start. Each batch is viability tested here and covered by our 80% germination guarantee, and every 10 and 25 seed pack is buy one get one free.

Where Black Ice comes from

Black Ice is most often listed as Black Domina crossed with White Widow. Black Domina is a famously dark, resinous indica built from Afghani, Ortega, Northern Lights and Hash Plant, and White Widow is the frosty Brazilian and South Indian hybrid that shaped a generation of indoor growing. Some breeders list the second parent as Ice, another resin-heavy indica from the same era, and the plant behaves much the same either way.

The name describes what the plant looks like in late flower: dark leaves and calyxes from the Black Domina side, coated in a layer of trichomes so thick that the buds look iced. It is a strain from the hash-making tradition, and it still appeals most to growers who value resin and a calm, heavy effect over candy flavours.

Oreoz has since been crossed with Black Ice to make Platinum Ice, which shows how much modern breeders still rate its frost.

Black Ice strain effects and experience

Black Ice starts with a short, clear lift in the first ten minutes, then the body relaxation takes over and keeps building. Muscles loosen, thoughts slow down and the couch starts to look very attractive. Most people put the effect at around two to three hours, ending in a drowsy, peaceful state.

At 18% to 25% THC it is strong without being extreme, and the effect is predictable, which is why many older growers favour it for the end of the day. It is not a strain for errands or socialising.

Black Ice flavour, aroma and appearance

The aroma is earthy and peppery with pine, hash and a floral note that some describe as dry hay. Under that sits a soft sweet berry, strongest in freshly broken buds. The smoke is thick and resinous: sweet earth on the inhale, pepper, pine and wood on the exhale. Myrcene and caryophyllene dominate the terpene profile, with pinene or limonene behind them depending on the phenotype.

Buds are dense and chunky, from frosty mint to forest green, with orange pistils. Phenotypes that lean toward Black Domina turn dark purple to almost black when nights cool, and every plant carries heavy resin, the reason it is a favourite for dry sift, bubble hash and rosin.

Growing Black Ice in Canada

Indoors

Black Ice is a squat plant with tight node spacing. A four week veg and a flip at 40 to 50 cm produces a finished height of 80 to 130 cm with a modest stretch. It is forgiving about feeding and handles a range of conditions, but it is happiest at 21 to 27 degrees with humidity below 50% in bloom. Bloom lasts 55 to 63 days. The colas pack tightly, so keep a fan moving across and under the canopy from week five on.

Outdoors, by region

An 8 to 9 week bloom and a compact frame make Black Ice a good outdoor plant in most of the country. The BC coast and interior harvest in the last week of September. Southern Ontario and the Ottawa valley finish in the first days of October. In Atlantic Canada, a sunny, well drained spot and an early June transplant still bring it in by early October, though a rain cover helps. On the Prairies, start indoors in April and plant out in late May; it usually finishes before the first hard frost. Cool nights near harvest are welcome, since they bring out the dark colour, but do not let dense buds sit wet after a cold rain. Our best outdoor seeds for Canada guide compares it with other strains that finish by early October.

Height and training

Top once or twice and tie the branches outward; left alone, Black Ice grows a thick central cola with small buds underneath. A screen of green evens the canopy and lets each branch finish a solid top. Remove the lowest growth at the flip, as those sites rarely develop and only trap moisture.

Flowering and harvest cues

Trichomes cloud up quickly in the last two weeks. Harvest when most heads are cloudy with 10% to 20% amber for the classic heavy effect. For hash, many makers cut a few days earlier, when heads are fully swollen but not yet ambering. Dry slowly for about two weeks, then cure; the earthy, hashy aroma rounds out after three weeks in jars.

Black Ice yield indoors and outdoors

Indoors, a trained plant returns 400 to 500 g/m² of dense buds. Outdoors, expect 400 to 600 g per plant in a full season. The dry weight understates its value for extract makers, because the resin return per gram of flower is high, and even the trim is worth keeping for dry sift.

Who Black Ice is for, and who should pick something else

Grow Black Ice if you like classic earthy indicas, make hash or rosin, or want a dependable evening strain that finishes outdoors across most of Canada. It is also a sensible choice for growers who want an easy plant with a short, controllable frame.

Pick something else if you want fruity, candy flavours, a daytime effect, or a tall plant to fill a big garden.

How Black Ice compares

Black Domina, the parent, is darker, heavier and more purely hashy. White Widow brings the frost and a brighter, more balanced effect on a slightly taller plant. Northern Lights shares the Afghan backbone and is the easier, milder classic. Oreoz is the modern dessert strain that was paired with Black Ice to make Platinum Ice. Among our indica feminized seeds, Black Ice is the resin pick with an old-school profile.

Frequently asked questions about Black Ice

Is Black Ice indica or sativa?

Black Ice is an indica dominant strain, about 70% indica and 30% sativa. After a short, clear lift at the start, it settles into a deep body relaxation that suits the evening. The plant is compact and bushy, with tight nodes and dense colas.

What strains make Black Ice?

Black Ice is most often listed as Black Domina crossed with White Widow. Some breeders use Ice, another resin-heavy indica, in place of White Widow. Black Domina itself combines Afghani, Ortega, Northern Lights and Hash Plant.

How strong is Black Ice strain?

Black Ice usually tests between 18% and 25% THC with less than 1% CBD. It is strong, but its effect is steady and predictable rather than overwhelming. Most people find the relaxation lasts two to three hours and ends in a drowsy state.

How long does Black Ice take to flower?

Black Ice flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, roughly 55 to 63 days from the switch to 12 hours of light. Outdoors in Canada it finishes between late September and early October, which makes it a workable choice from the BC coast to the Prairies with an indoor start.

Why Black Ice earns a place in a cold-climate seed order

Growers in the colder parts of Canada need strains that finish before October turns on them, and Black Ice is one we recommend. Seeds ship from our Vancouver, BC seed bank in plain packaging and arrive in 3 to 7 business days anywhere in the country, so an order placed in March is in hand long before an April germination. Orders over $200 ship free, and the $30 tracked and insured option includes one free reshipment if a parcel goes missing.

Every batch is viability tested in Vancouver before it ships, as it has been since 2009, and the 80% germination guarantee covers your seeds with the cup of water and paper towel method in our germination guide. Black Ice comes in 5, 10 and 25 seed packs; the 10 and 25 packs are buy one get one free with any strain of the same size. Spend over $420 and we include 10 free seeds.
