Orange Crush Feminized at a glance: Orange Crush is an easy, sativa leaning hybrid that flowers in 7 to 9 weeks, tests 15% to 22% THC and gives 400 to 500 g/m² of light green, orange haired buds that smell like orange pop, with a sweet berry and earthy finish.

Bred in British Columbia, and still shipped from British Columbia

Few strains on our shelves have deeper Canadian roots than Orange Crush. It was developed on the West Coast from California Orange and the Blueberry line, and it has been a familiar name in BC gardens for many years. Our Orange Crush feminized seeds are kept in our Vancouver, BC seed bank, a short trip from where the strain was first made, and travel in a plain envelope to every province and territory in 3 to 7 business days, with no customs step at all.

Where Orange Crush comes from

Orange Crush strain was created in British Columbia by crossing California Orange, an old citrus sativa from the 1980s, with Blueberry, the fruity indica that shaped a whole generation of Canadian genetics. The original release was a regular seed line, which is why feminized versions are a newer option for home growers who only want flowering females.

The name gets borrowed a lot. Several unrelated crosses have been sold as Orange Crush over the years, a legal market product in Canada uses the same name, and there is even a CBD hemp variety with it. When you buy Orange Crush feminized seeds from us, you get the California Orange and Blueberry plant, the version most strain databases describe. It has also fathered well known children, including Orange Dream, a cross with Blue Dream.

Orange Crush strain effects and experience

Orange Crush is a daytime strain at heart. The effect is happy and uplifted, with a talkative, creative edge and good focus, more like a cup of strong coffee on a sunny morning than a heavy evening smoke. The Blueberry parent keeps it from feeling sharp or jittery and adds a light, relaxed feeling in the body later on.

With a moderate THC range it is a sensible choice for people who find many modern dessert strains overwhelming. Dry mouth and dry eyes are the usual side effects, and a few people report brief dizziness when they overdo it.

Because the high is clear and fairly short, about two hours for most people, Orange Crush fits weekend errands, garden work or a hike better than a night on the couch. Many home growers keep a jar of it beside a heavier indica so they have a choice for morning and evening.

Orange Crush flavour, aroma and appearance

The nose is the reason most people try it: sweet orange soda, tangy citrus peel and a hint of orange drink powder, with a sweet berry note and some spicy earth underneath. Some batches carry a faint diesel edge. Terpene tests vary by batch, with terpinolene, myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene all appearing at the top in different samples, which fits that bright, fizzy, slightly herbal citrus.

The buds are light green and fairly airy compared with dense dessert strains, covered in vivid orange pistils that suit the name. The calyx to leaf ratio is high, so trimming is quick and clean.

Growing Orange Crush in Canada

Indoors

Orange Crush is one of the easiest plants we stock, and it is a good first grow. It does well under modest lighting, recovers quickly from mistakes, and clones easily if you want to keep a mother. Three to four weeks of veg is enough, and plants finish between 90 and 140 cm. It handles a moderate to heavy feed in mid flower. Hold 22 to 27 degrees and 45% to 50% humidity, dropping slightly in the last two weeks. Under a modest 300 watt LED in a 90 by 90 cm tent, two or three plants fill the space comfortably. If this is your first tent, our roundup of beginner friendly seeds for Canada shows where Orange Crush fits.

Outdoors, by region

A 7 to 9 week flowering time and a BC heritage make Orange Crush one of the safest outdoor choices for Canada. Coastal BC, the Okanagan and southern Ontario usually harvest in mid to late September. Quebec, the Maritimes and northern Ontario can finish before the end of September with a late May or early June transplant. On the Prairies, start seeds indoors in April and move plants out in late May; it ripens ahead of the first hard frost in most years around Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. Its open bud structure also resists mould better than dense dessert strains in a wet autumn.

Height and training

The plant has a sativa shape, with longer internodes and many branches. Topping and spreading the branches, or a simple scrog net, gives an even canopy of many medium colas. Outdoors, tie it to a stake or two once the buds start forming.

Flowering and harvest cues

Most plants are done between day 50 and day 60. Harvest when the trichomes are mostly cloudy with a little amber; going later dulls the bright, energetic effect. A 10 to 12 day slow dry and two weeks of curing keep the orange soda smell from fading.

Orange Crush yield indoors and outdoors

Expect about 400 to 500 g/m² indoors from a trained canopy, and 400 to 600 g per plant outdoors in a sunny garden. Orange Crush is not a heavyweight, but it is very consistent, and its speed means many outdoor growers harvest it a few weeks before their other plants.

Since the buds are less dense than dessert strains, they also dry a little faster. Start checking stems after day eight and move them to jars when small stems snap rather than bend.

Who Orange Crush is for, and who should pick something else

Orange Crush is ideal for first time growers, for anyone with a short outdoor season, and for people who want a cheerful daytime strain with moderate strength. It is also a nice piece of BC cannabis history to grow at home. Many Canadians first met the name on a provincial retail menu, and growing it from seed lets you choose your own harvest window and cure instead of relying on whatever batch was on the shelf.

If you want very high THC, dense purple buds or a sleepy evening effect, this is not your plant. Fans of berries with a calmer finish can look at its parent Blueberry.

How Orange Crush compares

Orange Creamsicle, one of its children, adds a creamy vanilla layer and a little more weight to the same orange theme. Blue Dream shares the Blueberry heritage and a similar daytime feel, with more berry and less citrus. California Orange, the citrus parent, is available as an autoflower for growers who want an even faster orange crop. More daytime options are listed in our sativa feminized seeds.
