Triple Scoop Feminized at a glance: Triple Scoop is a roughly 60/40 indica leaning hybrid that flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, tests 20% to 26% THC and yields 400 to 500 g/m² of dense, lavender-tinted buds that smell of vanilla ice cream, mixed berries and waffle cone.
An ice cream strain that ships year round, even in a Yellowknife January
Triple Scoop is a small plant made for indoor tents, which means many Canadians start it in the middle of winter. Our seeds are already in Canada, stored at our Vancouver, BC seed bank and shipped in plain packaging the day payment lands, so they reach the territories, the Prairies and the Maritimes in 3 to 7 business days in any season. Each lot is germination tested in Vancouver and backed by our 80% germination guarantee, and the 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free.
Where Triple Scoop comes from
Triple Scoop strain belongs to the ice cream branch of the Gelato family. The version most often grown from seed is a cross of 2 Scoops, a creamy Sherbet descendant, with Gelato 33, the Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Cookies selection that made dessert strains famous. The result is a third helping of the same flavour family, which is where the name comes from.
Be aware that Triple Scoop is a label several breeders have used. Some cuts on legal menus trace back to Lemon Cherry Gelato crossed with a honey bun type dessert strain, and an older line pulls in grape and haze genetics. Those versions can grow and taste differently. Our seeds follow the 2 Scoops x Gelato 33 line: an indica leaning hybrid around 60/40, compact and quick, with the creamy berry nose that defines the name. Despite the shared word, it is unrelated to the Double Scoop strain.
Triple Scoop strain effects and experience
Triple Scoop opens with a gentle, smiling lift and a bit of creative chatter, the kind of first half hour that suits cooking, a board game or a slow walk. It never gets edgy. As the session goes on, a soft, even body calm takes over and the evening slides into a comfortable, lazy mood. Most people would call it relaxing rather than sedating, at least in moderate amounts.
THC from 20% to 26% places it in the middle of today’s dessert hybrids: strong enough for experienced users, but more approachable than the 30% heavyweights.
Triple Scoop flavour, aroma and appearance
The jar smells like an ice cream parlour: vanilla soft-serve, a scoop of mixed berry sherbet and the toasted sweetness of a waffle cone. A twist of orange peel and a faint minty coolness come through when the bud is broken, inherited from Gelato 33. The smoke is smooth and creamy, berry on the inhale and vanilla on the exhale. Limonene and caryophyllene typically lead, with linalool adding the soft floral thread that keeps the profile from tasting flat.
The buds are medium sized and tight, mint green fading to lavender and dusky purple in a cool finish, with thin orange pistils and a sparkling trichome coat.
Growing Triple Scoop in Canada
Indoors
This is an easy tent plant. It stretches about 1.4 times after the flip, so four to five weeks of veg gives a finished height of 80 to 130 cm. Daytime temperatures of 22 to 26 degrees suit it, and dropping the night temperature by five degrees in the last two weeks brings out the lavender. Feed lightly through veg and moderately in bloom; dessert hybrids from the Gelato line often show tip burn before other strains, so watch the leaf edges. From week six, keep humidity at 40% to 45% because the buds are tight. Our indoor growing guide for Canada covers lights, ventilation and timing for a first tent.
Outdoors, by region
Finishing in 8 to 9 weeks, Triple Scoop suits outdoor gardens across most of the country. In coastal and southern BC and in southern Ontario, transplant in late May and harvest from the last week of September to the first days of October. In Quebec, eastern Ontario and the Maritimes, a sunny, sheltered site gets it done by early October in most years. Prairie growers should germinate in early April and harden off for a late May move; expect a harvest in the last week of September, with a plan to cover plants if an early frost is forecast. Because the buds are dense, space plants so wind dries them quickly after rain.
Height and training
Triple Scoop is short and bushy, so the goal is to open it up rather than tame it. One topping and a few soft ties will spread six to ten even tops. Remove the bottom growth at the end of the stretch and thin the large fan leaves that shade bud sites around day 21. In a small tent, two or three plants in a sea of green works as well as one large trained plant.
Flowering and harvest cues
Expect Triple Scoop to ripen somewhere from day 56 to day 63. Pistils curl and turn orange around day 50, and the colour change usually follows. Harvest when trichomes are mostly cloudy with about 10% amber for the creamiest, most balanced effect. Dry for 10 to 14 days at about 60% humidity, then cure for at least two weeks; the vanilla and cone notes get noticeably richer after the third week in the jar.
Triple Scoop yield indoors and outdoors
Indoors, Triple Scoop returns 400 to 500 g/m² from a trained canopy, which is solid for a plant this compact. Outdoors, a full-season plant in a 40 to 70 litre pot gives 450 to 650 g dried. The tight buds keep their weight through the dry, and the trichome coverage makes good hash and rosin from the trim.
Who Triple Scoop is for, and who should pick something else
Triple Scoop is a strong fit for small tents, closet grows and first-time growers who want a dessert strain that does not fight back. It also works for backyard gardeners in most provinces who want a September finish.
Pick something else if you want a 30% knockout, if you are after energetic daytime effects, or if you prefer savoury gas over sweet cream.
How Triple Scoop compares
Gelato 33, its parent, is more balanced and a touch more citrus, with a little more stretch. Sunset Sherbet, further back in the family tree, is fruitier and lighter. Compared with Lemon Cherry Gelato, Triple Scoop is creamier and less tart. Our hybrid feminized seeds include more dessert strains, and our best seeds for beginners guide covers other forgiving first grows.
Frequently asked questions about Triple Scoop
What is Triple Scoop strain?
Triple Scoop is an indica leaning dessert hybrid with a vanilla ice cream, berry sherbet and waffle cone flavour, typically testing 20% to 26% THC. The seed version most growers use is 2 Scoops crossed with Gelato 33, although other cuts with different parents share the name.
Is Triple Scoop indica or sativa?
Triple Scoop is a hybrid that leans indica, roughly 60% indica and 40% sativa. It begins with a light, cheerful lift and settles into a calm, relaxed body feel, which suits late afternoons and evenings.
What does Triple Scoop taste like?
Triple Scoop tastes like vanilla soft-serve with a scoop of berry sherbet and a crunchy cone, plus a hint of orange peel and mint from Gelato 33. A three week cure brings the creamy notes forward.
Is Triple Scoop easy to grow?
Yes, it is one of the easier dessert strains. It stays compact at 80 to 130 cm indoors, flowers in 8 to 9 weeks and tolerates small mistakes. The main things to watch are feeding strength and humidity in the last three weeks.
