Warheads Feminized at a glance: Warheads is a 65/35 sativa leaning hybrid that flowers in 9 to 10 weeks, tests 18% to 26% THC and yields 400 to 500 g/m² indoors of lime-green, orange-haired buds that smell like sour citrus candy with a faint fuel edge.
From the Fraser Valley to the Niagara bench, a sour strain with a Canadian return address
Warheads wants a long, warm finish, which in this country means the Fraser Valley, the Gulf Islands, the Niagara bench or a tent. The good news is that the seeds are already on this side of the border. They leave our Vancouver, BC seed bank in plain packaging and reach Abbotsford in a couple of days and Niagara Falls well within the 3 to 7 business day window, with no customs declaration. Each pack is covered by our 80% germination guarantee, and every 10 and 25 seed pack is buy one get one free.
Where Warheads comes from
Warheads strain is a modern candy hybrid with a slightly messy family tree, and it helps to know that before you buy. The line most growers mean, and the one most strain databases list, is Kaboom crossed with Sour Pez: Kaboom supplies vigour and a sativa backbone, and Sour Pez supplies the tart, sugary citrus that gives the strain its name. Two other cuts have travelled under the same label in American markets, one built from Sour Diesel, Animal Cookies and Apple Fritter, another from Garanimals and Watermelon OG.
What ties every version together is the nose. Open a jar and the first impression is lemon-lime peel and sour sugar, exactly like the candy wrapper. Our seeds follow the sativa leaning Kaboom x Sour Pez profile, roughly 65% sativa and 35% indica, with a growth pattern to match: taller than a dessert hybrid, more open between nodes, and quicker to stretch.
Warheads strain effects and experience
The onset is fast. Within a few minutes most people feel a lift behind the eyes, a brighter mood and an urge to talk, clean the kitchen or put a playlist on. The first hour is clear and focused rather than racy, which is why Warheads has a following as an afternoon strain for chores, walks and creative work. The indica third shows up later as a light ease in the shoulders, not a weight.
At 18% to 26% THC it sits in the middle of the modern range, strong enough to notice and mild enough to stay functional. People sensitive to bright sativas should start small: the citrus terpenes can make the first few minutes feel busy before it settles.
Warheads flavour, aroma and appearance
Limonene leads the terpene mix, with myrcene and caryophyllene underneath, and you can taste all three. The inhale is sharp lemon and lime with a sour, almost fizzy tang; the exhale turns sugary, then leaves a faint peppery, fuel-tinged finish.
Buds are medium sized and slightly elongated, lime green with bright orange pistils and a thick, sticky layer of trichomes. They are less dense than a Cookies cross, which is a quiet advantage in a damp Canadian autumn because air moves through them more easily.
Growing Warheads in Canada
Indoors
Treat Warheads as a sativa that needs managing rather than a hybrid that takes care of itself. It stretches 1.5 to 2 times after the flip, so veg for three to four weeks and flip when plants reach about half the height you can afford. Day temperatures of 22 to 26 degrees and humidity around 50% early in bloom suit it; drop humidity to 40% to 45% in the last three weeks and keep the room a little cooler at night, because hot, dry air strips limonene out of the buds. It feeds moderately and shows nitrogen excess quickly with dark, clawing leaves, so go lighter than you would with a hungry indica. Flowering takes 60 to 70 days.
Outdoors, by region
A 9 to 10 week bloom places Warheads in the coastal BC and southern Ontario bracket for outdoor growing. In the Fraser Valley and on the Gulf Islands, start seeds indoors in mid April, plant out after the last frost in late May, and expect a harvest in the first half of October; a simple roof of clear plastic over the last three weeks keeps the October rain off. On the Niagara bench and along the north shore of Lake Erie, the long warm September does most of the work, and plants usually finish in the first ten days of October. Elsewhere in Canada, including the Prairies, the Interior, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, grow it in a tent or a greenhouse, since the first hard frost will arrive before the buds finish.
Height and training
The open, stretchy structure makes Warheads one of the best strains in this batch for a screen. Top once at the fifth node, spread the branches with low stress training, and weave the tops through a net in the first two weeks of bloom. Our low stress training guide shows the method step by step. A flat canopy turns one tall cola and many weak side shoots into eight to ten evenly lit tops, which is where most of the yield comes from on this plant.
Flowering and harvest cues
Pistils darken from week seven, but the calyxes keep swelling into week nine. Watch the trichomes from day 60 and harvest when most are cloudy with only a few amber heads; waiting for heavy amber dulls the bright, sour high that people buy this strain for. Dry for 10 to 12 days at around 18 degrees and 60% humidity, then cure in jars for at least two weeks. The sour candy note sharpens noticeably during the cure.
Warheads yield indoors and outdoors
Indoors, a trained canopy under a good LED returns 400 to 500 g/m². That is a fair harvest rather than a heavy one; Warheads is grown for its flavour and its daytime character more than for weight. Outdoors in coastal BC or southern Ontario, a plant in a 50 to 75 litre fabric pot or in the ground gives roughly 500 to 700 g dried, more in a long, dry autumn. The airy buds also trim quickly.
Who Warheads is for, and who should pick something else
Grow Warheads if you prefer tart citrus to sweet dessert, want a daytime strain that keeps you talking, or enjoy training a stretchy plant into a tidy canopy. It suits a second or third grow, or a first grow for someone happy to read up on topping before the seeds arrive. A 10 pack of Warheads seeds gives you enough plants to keep the sourcest phenotype as a mother.
Pick something else if your tent is under 140 cm tall, if you garden outdoors on the Prairies or in the Maritimes, or if you want an evening strain that ends on the couch.
How Warheads compares
Sour Diesel shares the sharp, sour top note but swaps the candy for raw fuel and grows even taller. Sour Apple is the green apple take on the same sour-candy idea, a little more relaxing. Blue Nerds leans sweet berry candy rather than citrus, and Candy Gas pairs sweet with fuel on a heavier hybrid frame. Among our sativa feminized seeds, Warheads is the one we point to when a grower says the word sour.
Frequently asked questions about Warheads
Is Warheads strain a sativa or indica?
Warheads is a sativa leaning hybrid, roughly 65% sativa and 35% indica. It comes on quickly with a clear, upbeat head lift and only a light body ease later on. The plant grows like a sativa too, with an open structure and a strong stretch after the flip.
What is Warheads strain crossed with?
The most widely listed Warheads is Kaboom crossed with Sour Pez, and that sativa leaning profile is the one our seeds follow. Two other cuts share the name, one from Sour Diesel, Animal Cookies and Apple Fritter and one from Garanimals and Watermelon OG. All three are known for a sour citrus candy aroma.
What does Warheads weed taste like?
Warheads tastes like sour lemon-lime candy with a sugary finish. Limonene drives the citrus, while myrcene and caryophyllene add a soft, peppery, slightly fuel-like base on the exhale. A slow, cool dry and a two week cure keep the sour note bright.
Can you grow Warheads outdoors in Canada?
Yes, in coastal BC and southern Ontario, where it finishes in early to mid October. Its 9 to 10 week flowering time is too long for the Prairies, the Interior or the Atlantic provinces, where a tent or greenhouse is the reliable way to grow it.
Why Warheads is the sativa we suggest to growers who want sour over sweet
Most candy strains on today’s menus lean sweet, gassy or creamy. Warheads is one of the few that leans tart, and we stock it in Vancouver so Canadian growers can try that flavour without an overseas order. Seeds go out in plain, unbranded packaging and arrive anywhere in Canada in 3 to 7 business days. Spend over $200 and shipping is free; add the $30 tracked and insured option for a tracking number and one free reshipment if the parcel goes astray.
Every Warheads pack carries our 80% germination guarantee when you start the seeds with the cup of water and paper towel method from our germination guide. Packs come in 5, 10 and 25 seeds, and the 10 and 25 packs are buy one get one free, so a sour sativa for daytime and a heavier strain for evenings fit in one order. Orders over $420 get 10 free seeds on top.
We have been in business since 2009. Pay by Interac e-Transfer, credit card, Bitcoin or cash, and if the stretch gets away from you in week two of bloom, our Vancouver team picks up by phone, email, WhatsApp or live chat every day of the week.
