Where Georgia Pie comes from

Georgia Pie is a cross of two modern West Coast favourites. Gelatti, the mother, is a Gelato and Biscotti descendant with a sweet, doughy nose and a balanced effect. Kush Mints, the father, joins Bubba Kush with Animal Mints and brings resin, structure and a cool, minty edge. The cross was released in California in the late 2010s and picked up its name from the unmistakable stone fruit note that shows up in the cured flower, a trait neither parent is known for on its own.

That peach note is the surprise. Breeders often describe it as an accident of recombination, where terpene traits hidden in both parents line up in the offspring. Whatever the cause, it gives Georgia Pie a flavour that stands apart from the crowd of cookie and gelato hybrids.

The first wave is cheerful and light, a soft mood lift that makes food taste better and conversation come easily. After thirty to forty minutes the Kush Mints half shows up as a comfortable heaviness in the arms and legs, while the head stays pleasant rather than foggy. It is a strain for a slow Sunday afternoon or the hours after dinner, and many people find it turns them toward the fridge.

THC runs from 20% to 27% depending on the phenotype and the grow. That is strong enough that one or two draws is the right starting point for anyone who does not smoke often.

Indoors

Veg for four to five weeks and flip at 45 to 55 cm. Georgia Pie stretches about 1.5 to 2 times, so plan for a finished height of 90 to 140 cm and leave 40 cm between the tops and your light. It is happiest at 23 to 27 degrees in the day with a gentle night drop, and it wants a medium feed rather than a heavy one; the Kush Mints side can show nitrogen toxicity as clawed, dark leaves if you push it in early bloom. Keep humidity near 50% through the first half of flower and bring it down to 42% to 45% from week six. Outdoors, by region

A 9 to 10 week bloom means an early October finish, so Georgia Pie is an outdoor strain only for the mildest parts of the country. On the south coast of BC, from Victoria up through the Comox Valley and across the Lower Mainland, start seeds indoors in mid April, move the plant outside in late May and give it the sunniest, most sheltered spot you have; a simple greenhouse or hoop cover for the last three weeks protects the fruit-scented colas from coastal rain. In southern Ontario, the Niagara region, Essex County and the north shore of Lake Erie give it the long, warm autumn it needs. Growers in the Prairies, the interior and Atlantic Canada will get a far better result indoors or in a heated greenhouse.

Height and training

The plant builds a strong main stem with side branches that catch up if you give them the chance. Top at the fourth or fifth node, then use soft ties to pull the new tops outward over the next ten days. A single layer of trellis net at the flip keeps the canopy flat through the stretch. Clean up the lowest third of the plant around day 21 of bloom, since those sites rarely fill out and they block airflow near the soil.

Flowering and harvest cues

Buds start stacking hard from week five, and the peach scent becomes obvious around week seven. Watch the trichomes rather than the pistils: harvest when most heads are cloudy with roughly 10% amber, typically day 62 to 68. A cold, slow dry at 17 to 18 degrees and 60% humidity for 12 to 14 days, followed by a four week cure, is what brings the pie crust and fruit forward.

Georgia Pie yield indoors and outdoors

Trained indoor plants produce 450 to 550 g/m² in a well run tent. Outdoors on the BC coast or in southern Ontario, a plant in a 50 to 100 litre pot or in the ground can give 500 to 700 g of dried flower in a dry autumn. The buds are dense and trim cleanly, and the thick resin is a bonus for anyone who makes rosin or edibles from the trim.

Who Georgia Pie is for, and who should pick something else

Pick Georgia Pie if you want a fruit and dessert flavour that is genuinely different, a relaxed, sociable effect for evenings, and a medium sized plant for an indoor run. Growers who have handled one or two crops will find it well behaved.

Pick something else if you need an outdoor plant for a short Prairie season, where Kush Mints, one of its parents, finishes a week or more sooner and shrugs off cold nights. If peach is less important than grape and cookie, Carbon Fiber is the darker, heavier dessert strain.

How Georgia Pie compares

Biscotti, a grandparent through Gelatti, has the same doughy spice without the fruit and grows noticeably shorter. Gelato is creamier and a little more energetic.
