White Widow Feminized Marijuana Seeds

(8 customer reviews)

Price range: $65.00 through $240.00

White Widow Feminized is the 1990s Dutch classic that put “white” resin on the map: an indica dominant cross of a Brazilian sativa and a South Indian indica that finishes flowering in 8 to 9 weeks and tests between 18% and 25% THC. Plants stay around 150 cm in a tent, stretch past 200 cm in a BC garden, and forgive most first-grow mistakes. Every seed is feminized, viability tested in Vancouver, and ships to your door inside Canada in 3 to 7 business days.

Where White Widow comes from

White Widow was bred in the Netherlands in the mid 1990s from a Brazilian sativa landrace and a resin heavy South Indian indica, and the name came from the way mature buds look dusted in flour. The Brazilian side gave it a clear, talkative first hour; the Indian side gave it the short internodes, the fast finish and the trichome coverage that made it a coffee shop staple within two seasons of release.

Thirty years on, most “White” strains, from White Rhino to White Russian, trace back to it. The feminized version we stock keeps the original lean: indica dominant in structure, sativa in the first half of the effect, and stable enough that a 10 pack grows out noticeably uniform.

Effects and experience

The first ten minutes are bright and chatty, closer to a sativa than the data sheet suggests, which is the Brazilian parent showing. Over the following hour it settles into the body without pinning you to the couch, and it tails off cleanly at around two hours. At 18% to 25% THC it is a strong strain, so a small first session is sensible for anyone used to milder flower.

Growers who harvest on the early side, with trichomes mostly cloudy, get more of the lift; leaving it a week longer until amber shows brings the body weight forward. That flexibility is one reason White Widow suits a first grow: two harvest windows, two different results, both good.

Flavour, aroma and appearance

Open a jar and the first note is pungent and earthy, with a sweet, almost fruity edge underneath and a spicy sandalwood finish on the exhale. The terpene profile leans myrcene and caryophyllene, which is why it smells peppery and musky rather than citrus.

The look is the reason for the name. By week six the buds are coated in white trichomes thick enough to look sugared, and in cool September nights outdoors the dark green fan leaves shade into deep plum. Buds are dense, medium sized and sticky enough to make trimming slow, so keep scissors and alcohol handy.

Growing White Widow in Canada

Indoors

White Widow is one of the easiest plants in the catalogue to keep happy in a tent. It stays around 120 to 150 cm with a four week veg, stretches roughly 1.5 times after the flip to 12/12, and fills out in 8 to 9 weeks of flower, about 63 days. It tolerates feeding mistakes better than most; if in doubt, feed at half strength. It is one of the strains we germinate most often in our own Vancouver viability tests, and it is consistently among the first to pop. Keep humidity under 50% once buds thicken, because those dense colas hold moisture.

Outdoors, by region

Coastal BC and Vancouver Island give it the full season it likes: plant out in late May, expect 200 cm plants, and harvest in the first week of October before the wet sets in. In southern Ontario and Quebec it finishes in late September; give it morning sun and space between plants, since humid August weeks are the main bud rot risk. On the Prairies, start indoors in April and move out after the last frost; a 9 week finish means an early to mid September harvest, tight but workable in a warm year, and a fabric pot you can drag under cover buys a week if frost comes early. In the Atlantic provinces and the North, choose the autoflowering route instead; the photoperiod plant is too slow for those seasons.

Height and training

Top once at the fifth node and low stress train the side branches outward; White Widow responds with an even canopy of eight to ten colas rather than one dominant top, and that spreads the resin the strain is known for. Skip heavy defoliation in flower, the dense buds need airflow but not stripped plants.

Flowering and harvest cues

Pistils turn orange from week six; do not harvest on pistils alone. Check trichomes with a loupe from day 55: mostly cloudy with clear ones gone is the lively harvest, 10% to 20% amber is the heavier one. Dry ten to fourteen days at 60% humidity and 18 degrees, then cure. The pungent smell during drying is real, so plan for a carbon filter in a shared house. Our germination guide covers the first ten days.

Yield

Indoors, a well trained White Widow gives 350 to 450 g/m² under a decent LED, with 375 g/m² a fair expectation for a first attempt. Outdoors in a full BC or Ontario season, plants in 60 litre pots or amended ground commonly produce 600 to 800 g per plant dried. The yield comes from bud density rather than plant size, which is why the strain rewards the even canopy over a tall single cola. Sea of green works well indoors: four to six plants per square metre, short veg, and the 63 day flower keeps the whole cycle under 12 weeks.

Who White Widow is for, and who should pick something else

Pick White Widow if this is your first or second grow, if you want a strong daytime-into-evening strain rather than a sedative, or if resin is the point, whether for hash or for jars that look the part. It is also the right choice for growers in BC, Ontario and Quebec who can give it a full season.

Pick something else if you need a plant finished by early September on the Prairies, where Northern Lights Autoflowering is the safer bet; if you want a heavy, sleepy indica effect, where Bubba Kush fits better; or if odour control is impossible, because this one announces itself.

How White Widow compares

White Rhino is its heavier descendant: similar resin, more body, a week longer to finish, better for evenings. Amnesia Haze goes the other way, a taller sativa with a longer 10 to 11 week flower and a sharper, more energetic effect, for growers with the height and the season. Among our indica dominant feminized seeds, White Widow sits in the middle: easier than most, stronger than its age suggests, and the one we point first-time growers to when they ask for something that will not let them down. The full beginner seeds guide ranks it against seven others.

Frequently asked questions

Is White Widow indica or sativa?

White Widow is an indica dominant hybrid, roughly 60% indica and 40% sativa, bred from a Brazilian sativa and a South Indian indica. The structure and the fast 8 to 9 week flower come from the indica side; the clear, uplifting first hour of the effect comes from the sativa parent.

How strong is White Widow?

White Widow tests between 18% and 25% THC depending on the grow and the harvest window, with under 1% CBD. That puts it in the strong category. Harvesting with mostly cloudy trichomes gives a lighter, livelier result; waiting for 10% to 20% amber makes it noticeably heavier.

Can I grow White Widow outdoors in Canada?

Yes in coastal BC, southern Ontario and Quebec, where it finishes late September to early October. On the Prairies it is possible with an April indoor start and some frost protection. In the Atlantic provinces and the North, the autoflowering version is the better choice because it finishes weeks earlier.

Is it legal to buy White Widow seeds in Canada, and how do they arrive?

Yes. Adults can buy cannabis seeds anywhere in Canada, and most provinces allow four plants per household. Because MJ Seeds Canada is in Vancouver, the seeds never cross a border: they ship inside Canada in plain packaging and arrive in 3 to 7 business days, with a tracked and insured option at checkout.

The second reason is what is in the pack. Every batch is viability tested here before it ships, and every order carries our 80% germination guarantee when you follow the cup of water and paper towel method in our germination guide. White Widow comes in 5, 10 and 25 seed packs, and every 10 and 25 pack is buy one get one free, mixed with any strain of the same size, so a first grow and a backup season cost one purchase.
