Garlic Breath Feminized at a glance: Garlic Breath is a 60/40 to 70/30 indica leaning cross of GMO and Mendo Breath that blooms in 9 to 10 weeks, tests 22% to 30% THC, grows 80 to 130 cm indoors and produces 400 to 550 g/m² of dense, silver frosted buds with a garlic, onion, diesel and light vanilla aroma.
Coastal autumns, carbon filters and a seed bank three to seven days away
A savoury, ten week strain asks two things of a Canadian grower: a long, dry finish and a good carbon filter. The first points to the BC coast, southern Ontario or an indoor tent. The second is up to you. Getting the seeds is the easy part, because we keep Garlic Breath in our Vancouver, BC seed bank and mail it in plain, odour free packaging that reaches any province in 3 to 7 business days, without customs. Each lot is germination tested before listing and backed by our 80% germination guarantee, and the 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free.
Where Garlic Breath comes from
Garlic Breath is a cross of GMO and a Mendo Breath F2 male. GMO, also called Garlic Cookies, comes from Chemdog and Girl Scout Cookies and is famous for its garlic and diesel smell and its big yields. Mendo Breath, a cross of OGKB and Mendo Montage, adds a sweet vanilla and caramel note, a shorter, sturdier frame and plenty of frost. The same Mendo Breath father was used to make Peanut Butter Breath, so the two strains are half siblings.
Garlic Breath is not the same strain as GMO, even though it shares the garlic. It is also different from Garlic Budder, which is GMO crossed with Fortune Cookies. The name is simply honest: a jar smells like a kitchen with garlic in the pan. That shock value helped it become a favourite in tasting circles, alongside a reputation for very high THC. Later refinements from the same family, sometimes labelled 2.0 or 3.0, aim to stabilise the best phenotypes.
Garlic Breath strain effects and experience
Garlic Breath opens with a quick, warm, happy feeling and a sense of calm focus that lasts twenty to thirty minutes. The mind stays fairly clear in this phase, and many people say food suddenly sounds very good.
Then the indica side settles in. A heavy, relaxing body feeling builds over the next hour and can last two to three hours or more. With THC between 22% and 30%, it is one of the stronger strains we carry, best kept for evenings at home. A small amount is the sensible start; it is easy to take more than you need before the full effect arrives.
Garlic Breath flavour, aroma and appearance
The smell is the first thing anyone notices. Roasted garlic and raw onion lead, followed by diesel, black pepper and an herbal, earthy note. Beneath that, the Mendo Breath side adds a light sweetness of vanilla and caramel, with a hint of lemon in some phenotypes. The smoke is thick and savoury, with garlic and fuel on the inhale and a spicy, slightly sweet finish. Caryophyllene leads the terpene profile, with limonene, myrcene, pinene and humulene in support. For managing that aroma indoors, our guide to controlling cannabis odour is worth reading.
Buds are dense, chunky and covered in a heavy layer of trichomes that gives them a silver look. Calyxes are olive to forest green, often with purple tips in a cool finish, and the pistils are short and orange. The plant has tight internodes and thick stems from the Mendo Breath side.
Growing Garlic Breath in Canada
Indoors
Garlic Breath is more compact than GMO, with a stretch of about 1.5 times. Four weeks of veg and a flip at about 45 cm gives a finished height of 80 to 130 cm. It likes a warm room, 23 to 27 degrees by day, and a strong feed through mid bloom. The main challenge is humidity: tight internodes and dense colas trap moisture, so hold humidity at 40% to 45% from week five and keep fans moving air above and below the canopy. A carbon filter is essential. Expect harvest between day 60 and day 70.
Outdoors, by region
With a 9 to 10 week bloom and dense buds, Garlic Breath is best outdoors on the BC coast and in southern Ontario. On Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and the Lower Mainland, start indoors in April, plant out in late May and expect a harvest in the first half of October, ideally under a rain shelter for the final two weeks. In southern Ontario, especially near Lake Erie, a warm fall can finish plants in early October; space them widely and check for mould after every rain. In the Interior of BC, a dry autumn helps, but early frost is a risk. On the Prairies, in Quebec and in the Atlantic provinces, grow it indoors or in a greenhouse. The smell also carries a long way, so think about neighbours before planting outside.
Height and training
Top once or twice and use low stress training to spread the plant into a flat canopy. Because the internodes are tight, opening the plant improves airflow and helps prevent rot in the main colas. Remove lower growth before the flip and do a light defoliation around day 21 of bloom. The stems are strong, but the heaviest colas still benefit from a net or a few stakes in the final weeks.
Flowering and harvest cues
The pistils can darken by week seven, but the buds keep putting on weight until the last two weeks. Start checking trichomes from day 60. Cloudy with 10% to 15% amber gives a strong, balanced effect; more amber makes it heavier. Dry slowly for 12 to 14 days at 58% to 62% humidity and about 18 degrees. A three to four week cure softens the raw onion into a richer roasted garlic and brings the vanilla note forward.
Garlic Breath yield indoors and outdoors
Indoors, a trained canopy returns 400 to 550 g/m² of dense, heavy buds. Outdoors on the coast, a full season plant gives roughly 500 to 700 g. The resin content is high, which makes Garlic Breath a strong choice for rosin and hash, where the return per gram is above average.
Who Garlic Breath is for, and who should pick something else
Grow Garlic Breath if you love savoury, gassy strains, want a strong evening plant that fits a normal tent, or press your own rosin. Garlic Breath feminized seeds are also a good choice if GMO is too tall or too slow for your space.
Pick something else if you cannot control odour or humidity, want a sweet dessert flavour, or need an outdoor plant for a short, cold season.
How Garlic Breath compares
GMO, the mother, is taller, slower and even more garlic heavy, with bigger yields. Peanut Butter Breath, its half sibling through the same Mendo Breath father, is nuttier and earthier. Donny Burger is another GMO child with more lemon and resin. Modified Grapes adds grape candy to the garlic and finishes sooner. Among our indica feminized seeds, Garlic Breath is one of the most potent savoury choices, and our high THC seeds guide compares it with other strong strains.
Frequently asked questions about Garlic Breath
What is Garlic Breath a cross of?
Garlic Breath is a cross of GMO and a Mendo Breath F2 male. GMO comes from Chemdog and Girl Scout Cookies, and Mendo Breath comes from OGKB and Mendo Montage. The same Mendo Breath father was used to make Peanut Butter Breath.
Is Garlic Breath the same as GMO?
No, Garlic Breath is not the same as GMO. GMO is one of its parents, so the two share the garlic and diesel aroma. Garlic Breath grows shorter, finishes a little faster and adds a sweet vanilla note from Mendo Breath.
Is Garlic Breath indica or sativa?
Garlic Breath is an indica dominant hybrid, usually rated between 60/40 and 70/30 in favour of indica. It begins with a happy, clear lift and then turns into a heavy, long lasting body calm. Most people save it for the evening.
How strong is Garlic Breath?
Garlic Breath usually tests between 22% and 30% THC, with CBD under 0.5%. That makes it one of the stronger strains on the market. Start with a small amount, because the full effect takes up to an hour to build.
Why Garlic Breath is the savoury strain we suggest after GMO
Many growers love the garlic and fuel of GMO but cannot give it a tall tent or a ten week bloom with a big stretch. Garlic Breath keeps the savoury nose and the strength on a shorter, sturdier plant. We ship it from Vancouver, BC in plain packaging that does not draw attention, and it reaches every province in 3 to 7 business days. Orders over $200 ship free, and $30 adds tracking, insurance and one free reshipment.
Every lot of Garlic Breath is germination tested in our Vancouver seed bank, where we have worked since 2009. Germinate them in a cup of water and then a damp paper towel, as shown in our germination guide, and the 80% germination guarantee applies. You can buy 5, 10 or 25 seeds; the 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free with any strain of the same size. Orders over $420 come with 10 bonus seeds.
