Permanent Marker Strain Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Price range: $65.00 through $240.00

Permanent Marker is the dessert-gas hybrid that took over dispensary menus in 2023 and has not let go: Biscotti crossed with Jealousy, then crossed again to a Sherbet backcross, testing 25% to 30% THC with a floral, soapy funk that smells exactly like its name. It is indica dominant, finishes in 9 to 10 weeks, and stays under 140 cm in a tent, so it suits growers who want the loudest jar on the shelf and can give it a little more attention than a classic. Every seed is feminized, viability tested in Vancouver, and shipped inside Canada in 3 to 7 business days.

Permanent Marker Feminized at a glance: a 70/30 indica leaning hybrid that flowers in 9 to 10 weeks, tests 25% to 30% THC, and gives 450 to 550 g/m² of dense, purple-streaked, resin-heavy buds that smell like a fresh marker and taste like candy and gas.

Already in Canada, already tested in Vancouver

Permanent Marker is a strain people pay import premiums for. Ours does not need importing. The seeds sit in our Vancouver, BC seed bank, leave in plain packaging the day payment lands, and reach Ontario, Quebec, the Prairies and the Atlantic provinces in 3 to 7 business days with no customs form and no border seizure. Every batch is viability tested here first and covered by our 80% germination guarantee, and every 10 and 25 seed pack is buy one get one free.

Where Permanent Marker comes from

Permanent Marker is a three-way cross built in stages. Biscotti brought the cookie-dough sweetness and the dense, purple-tinged bud structure; Jealousy added the sharp gas and the extreme trichome coverage that made both strains famous; and a Sunset Sherbet backcross tied it together with a creamy, fruity finish. The result won strain-of-the-year style recognition in 2023 and quickly became the reference point for the “candy and gas” style of modern hybrids.

The name is literal. Well grown Permanent Marker smells like opening a fresh felt-tip: chemical, floral, faintly soapy, with a candy sweetness under it. It is indica dominant in structure and effect, roughly 70/30, but it does not grow like an old-school indica; expect a medium plant with heavy lateral branching and buds so resinous they look frosted at week five.

Effects and experience

The onset creeps. Ten minutes in, there is a light lift and a noticeable brightening of mood; by the half-hour mark the body relaxation arrives and keeps building for another hour. Most people describe it as content and unhurried rather than sleepy, at least until the second hour, when the indica side takes over and the couch becomes the obvious place to be. At 25% to 30% THC it is one of the strongest strains in our catalogue, so a single small session is the sensible way to meet it.

Because the effect builds slowly, it is easy to overdo. New users often take a second dose before the first has finished arriving. Treat it like a dessert: a little, then wait.

Flavour, aroma and appearance

Break a bud and the room changes. The dominant notes are floral and soapy with a sharp gas edge, followed by sweet candy and a doughy, cookie-like base. On the exhale it turns creamy with a faint mint. The terpene mix leans limonene and caryophyllene with a floral linalool thread, which is why it reads as perfume rather than pine.

The buds are medium sized, hard as marbles and coated in trichomes thick enough to turn the calyxes silver. Deep purple streaks show in the last three weeks, especially when night temperatures drop into the low teens, with rust-orange pistils for contrast. It is one of the most photogenic plants you can grow.

Growing Permanent Marker in Canada

Indoors

Give it a four to five week veg from seed and it will sit around 90 to 140 cm at harvest after a moderate stretch of about 1.5 times. It likes a warm room, 24 to 27 degrees in the day, and a dry finish: once buds start stacking in week five, keep humidity under 45% because the colas are dense enough to hide rot until it is too late. It feeds a little heavier than a Sherbet type; watch for pale lower leaves in week three of flower and raise nitrogen slightly. Expect 63 to 70 days from the flip, and do not cut at day 56 just because the pistils have turned.

Outdoors, by region

A 9 to 10 week flower makes Permanent Marker a coastal BC and southern Ontario plant outdoors. On Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland, start indoors in April, plant out in late May, and plan to harvest in the first two weeks of October, ideally under a rain cover for the last fortnight. Southern Ontario and the Montreal area can pull it off in a warm year with a late September to early October harvest, but the dense buds and humid Augusts mean spacing plants well apart and checking for rot after every rain. On the Prairies and in the Atlantic provinces, treat it as an indoor or greenhouse strain; for an outdoor plant that finishes in September in those regions, see our best outdoor seeds for Canada guide.

Height and training

Top at the fourth or fifth node and run a single layer of net. Permanent Marker throws strong side branches and rewards a wide, even canopy with 8 to 12 colas of nearly equal size, which also keeps airflow moving through the bud sites. Strip the lowest third of growth at the flip; the small popcorn buds down there are a waste of the plant’s energy and a rot risk.

Flowering and harvest cues

The purple turn and the trichome swell both happen in the final 14 days, which is exactly when impatient growers cut. Check with a loupe from day 60: mostly cloudy with the first amber is the peak for flavour and potency; 15% amber gives a heavier, sleepier result. Dry slowly, 12 to 14 days at 60% humidity, then jar and burp. The marker aroma comes back fully after two weeks of cure.

Yield

Indoors, a trained plant under a good LED gives 450 to 550 g/m², and the weight is honest: these are dense, heavy buds that lose less on drying than fluffier strains. Outdoors, a full-season plant in coastal BC in a 60 to 80 litre pot produces 500 to 700 g dried. Yield is not the reason to grow Permanent Marker, but it is far from a low yielder, and the resin content makes it one of the best strains in the catalogue for hash and rosin, where the return per gram of flower is unusually high.

Who Permanent Marker is for, and who should pick something else

Grow Permanent Marker if you want the strain everyone is asking about, if flavour and bag appeal matter as much as weight, or if you press rosin and want the highest return per plant. It suits growers on their second or third run who can hold a dry, warm room for ten weeks of flower.

Pick something else if this is your first grow, where Biscotti gives you the same dessert family with a shorter, easier plant; if you need an outdoor plant for the Prairies; or if you want a daytime strain, because this one ends on the couch.

How Permanent Marker compares

Sunset Sherbet is the grandparent: lighter, fruitier, less gas, a week faster and easier to grow. Gelato is the closest classic in flavour, with the same creamy sweetness but lower THC and a more balanced effect. Among our indica dominant feminized seeds, Permanent Marker is the potency pick; our high THC seeds guide lines it up against the other 25% plus strains we ship inside Canada.

Frequently asked questions

Is Permanent Marker indica or sativa?

Permanent Marker is an indica dominant hybrid, around 70% indica and 30% sativa. It comes from Biscotti and Jealousy crossed to a Sunset Sherbet backcross, and it grows like a medium, bushy hybrid rather than a squat indica. The effect starts bright and settles into a heavy body relaxation over the first hour.

How strong is Permanent Marker?

Permanent Marker tests between 25% and 30% THC in a well grown, properly harvested crop, with CBD under 0.5%. That makes it one of the strongest strains we sell. The onset creeps for the first half hour, so wait before taking more; a small session is plenty for most people.

Why does Permanent Marker smell like a marker?

The floral, soapy, slightly chemical smell comes from a high share of linalool and limonene sitting on top of a gassy caryophyllene base. Together they read like a fresh felt-tip with candy underneath. The aroma is strongest after a two week cure, when the sweeter notes come forward.

Can I grow Permanent Marker outdoors in Canada?

Yes on the BC coast and in southern Ontario, where it finishes in early to mid October, ideally with a rain cover for the last two weeks. Its 9 to 10 week flower and dense buds make it a poor fit for outdoor gardens on the Prairies or in the Atlantic provinces, where a greenhouse or indoor tent is the safer plan.
