Where Blue Dream comes from

The Blue Dream strain appeared in Santa Cruz, California in the early 2000s as a cross of Blueberry and a Haze. Blueberry, the fruity indica leaning classic from the 1970s, brought the berry flavour, the resin and a calm body feel; the Haze parent, most often listed as Super Silver Haze, supplied the height, the long colas and the bright, clear head effect. With a 9 to 10 week flower and a harvest from early to late October, Blue Dream is a coastal BC and southern Ontario plant outdoors. In the Lower Mainland, the Fraser Valley and on southern Vancouver Island, it grows into a large bush that finishes in the first half of October in a normal year; a rain cover over the final three weeks protects the big colas. Along the north shore of Lake Erie, in Niagara and around Toronto it usually finishes by mid October. On the Prairies, in northern regions and in the Atlantic provinces, frost and short days arrive before it is done, so grow it indoors or in a heated greenhouse.

Height and training

Top at the fourth node, spread the branches with low stress training, and use a screen of green to turn the stretch into an even canopy. Dry for 10 to 14 days at around 60% humidity, and give it at least two weeks in jars for the blueberry aroma to fully return.
