Kush Cake Feminized at a glance: Kush Cake is an indica dominant Kush Mints x Wedding Cake hybrid that flowers in 8 to 9 weeks, tests 22% to 28% THC and produces 450 to 550 g/m² of dense, frosted, purple-flecked buds that smell like vanilla frosting, mint and pepper.
Frosting for the dark months: a winter tent run that starts with a three to seven day parcel
Plenty of Canadian growers run their best indoor crop between November and March, when the tent warms a cold basement and the outdoor garden is under snow. Kush Cake fits that window neatly, with a short veg and an 8 to 9 week bloom. Order in late autumn and the seeds arrive from our Vancouver, BC seed bank in 3 to 7 business days, in plain packaging and without crossing a border. Every lot is germination tested before packing and covered by our 80% germination guarantee, and 10 and 25 seed packs are buy one get one free.
Where Kush Cake comes from
Kush Cake strain comes from a California collaboration that crossed Kush Mints with Wedding Cake. Both parents descend from Animal Mints, so the cross concentrates that family’s mint, vanilla and heavy frost rather than mixing in something new. The original selection was released as LA Kush Cake and also circulated as Kush Cake #11, the number of the keeper phenotype; in practice the three names point to the same genetics.
A few sellers list Kush Cake as Girl Scout Cookies crossed with Cherry Pie. That is the pedigree often (and mistakenly) attached to Wedding Cake itself, and it has spread to the child. The Kush Mints and Wedding Cake version is the one that matches the plant’s structure, its mint note and its effect, and it is the line we sell.
Kush Cake strain effects and experience
Kush Cake opens gently. A wave of calm and contentment arrives over ten to fifteen minutes, the mind quiets, and conversation slows rather than speeds up. The body effect builds behind it as a warm, settling heaviness through the back and legs. It is a strain for the end of the day: a film, a long meal, an early night.
At 22% to 28% THC it is potent, and the slow build tempts people into a second helping before the first has peaked. Wait thirty minutes. Dry mouth and dry eyes are common, and heavy doses push it from relaxed to sleepy quickly; sensitive users occasionally report a brief anxious moment early on.
Kush Cake flavour, aroma and appearance
The jar smells like a bakery with a mint garden out back: sweet vanilla frosting and buttery dough first, then a cool, peppermint-like freshness and a peppery, earthy kush base. Grinding a bud adds a faint lemon zest. The smoke is creamy and smooth, with mint lingering on the tongue. Caryophyllene, limonene and linalool are the most reported terpenes, with myrcene often close behind, which accounts for the pepper, the citrus lift and the soft floral sweetness.
The buds are dense, chunky and so coated in trichomes that they look sugared. Deep green calyxes take on violet and lavender patches when nights cool in late flower, and the pistils are a pale, rusty orange. Bag appeal is excellent, which is part of why the strain spread so fast in dispensaries.
Growing Kush Cake in Canada
Indoors
Kush Cake grows like its Wedding Cake parent: stretchy in the first two weeks of flower, then compact and heavy. Veg for four weeks, flip at 40 cm and plan for a final height of 70 to 120 cm. It likes a medium to strong feed in mid flower and benefits from extra calcium and magnesium under LED lighting. Keep the room at 22 to 26 degrees and bring humidity down to 40% to 45% once the buds start to bulk, because the colas are tight enough to trap moisture. A winter grow has the advantage here: dry indoor air in a Canadian January makes the late-bloom humidity target easy to hit.
Outdoors, by region
With an 8 to 9 week bloom, Kush Cake finishes outdoors from late September to early October, so it suits most of southern Canada. Coastal BC growers should choose the sunniest spot on the property and watch for rot after September rain. In the Okanagan, Ontario’s Grand River valley and the Eastern Townships, a south-facing garden bed carries it to a comfortable finish before the first hard frost. Prairie growers in Lethbridge, Saskatoon or Winnipeg should start the seeds indoors in April, move the plant out in early June, and keep a frost blanket ready for the last week of September.
Height and training
Top at the fourth or fifth node and train into an even canopy with a net; Kush Cake throws strong lateral branches that each carry a solid cola. Low stress training works well, and our low stress training guide shows how to open the plant without stressing it. Remove the bottom third of growth at the flip to send energy to the top.
Flowering and harvest cues
Most plants are ready at 56 to 63 days. The calyxes swell visibly in the final ten days, and that is where much of the weight is added, so do not rush. Harvest with mostly cloudy trichomes and 10% to 15% amber for the deepest relaxation. Dry slowly for 12 to 14 days and cure for at least three weeks; the vanilla frosting note grows stronger in the jar.
Kush Cake yield indoors and outdoors
Indoors, a trained Kush Cake canopy produces 450 to 550 g/m² of dense, heavy flower. Outdoors in a warm southern Canadian garden, expect 500 to 700 g per plant. The resin coverage is outstanding, so it is an excellent strain for dry sift, ice water hash and rosin, where its yields per gram of flower are high.
Who Kush Cake is for, and who should pick something else
Kush Cake feminized seeds suit growers who love dessert flavours with a cool mint twist, people who want a calm and heavy evening strain, and indoor growers planning a winter run. Concentrate makers will appreciate the resin.
Look elsewhere if you need a daytime or social strain, or if you are on your first grow and want a plant that is hard to get wrong; a simpler, shorter indica may serve you better.
How Kush Cake compares
Wedding Cake is sweeter and tangier, with less mint and slightly less sedation. Kush Mints carries more cool mint and peppery fuel and a slightly more uplifting start. Gelato Cake shares the Wedding Cake side but adds creamy Gelato fruit. Among our indica feminized seeds, Kush Cake is the pick for growers who want frosting, mint and a heavy evening finish in one plant.
Frequently asked questions about Kush Cake
What is Kush Cake strain?
Kush Cake is an indica dominant hybrid made by crossing Kush Mints with Wedding Cake. It is known for a vanilla frosting and mint aroma over peppery kush, 22% to 28% THC, heavy resin and a calm, relaxing effect that suits the evening.
Is Kush Cake the same as LA Kush Cake?
Yes, in most cases. Kush Cake, LA Kush Cake and Kush Cake #11 all refer to the Kush Mints x Wedding Cake cross, with #11 being the number of the original keeper phenotype. A few sellers list a Girl Scout Cookies x Cherry Pie pedigree under the same name, but that is a different and less common line.
Is Kush Cake indica or sativa?
Kush Cake is indica dominant, roughly 70% indica and 30% sativa. It starts with a calm, contented mood lift and settles into a heavy body relaxation, so most people save it for the evening.
How strong is Kush Cake?
Kush Cake usually tests between 22% and 28% THC, with CBD under 1%. The effect builds slowly for about half an hour, so it is easy to take too much. Start with a small amount and wait before having more.
